Mrs. Rainbow, Tampa Age and Occupation: 22, Makeup Artist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Electrical Engineer/Programmer Engagement Date: November 27, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Gamble Plantation About Me: I'm a quirky (and slightly Type-A) freelance makeup artist who was born in Washington State, raised in Alabama, and now living with my one and only in sunny Florida. I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. Someday the FI and I will change the world, but first we're tackling our modern-vintage-Marie-Antoinette-meets-Alice-in-Wonderland inspired wedding. I just can't wait to be Mrs. Rainbow!
About Mrs. Rainbow

Grazie, Danke, Merci, Gracias…

October 15th, 2009 @ 2:43 pm by Mrs. Rainbow

There are so many ways to say thank you! But my favorite? Why, the favor, of course! It’s just a sweet little sentiment to say a non-verbal thank you. From the beginning, we knew that we wanted to do edible favors. With edible favors, guests rarely wait 30 seconds after sitting down to gobble the goodies. Here are my top contenders for edible favors:

Grazie, Danke, Merci, Gracias... : wedding favors Silver Silver-

source

Silver Jordan Almonds: I love that they fit our color scheme, are pretty inexpensive, and very yummy. The only downside is that they may be a little too traditional for me. Jordan almonds are probably the most standard edible wedding favor, and I don’t think I want standard. Coating them in silver does turn them into chic little nuts though, don’t you think?

Our second option is:

Grazie, Danke, Merci, Gracias... : wedding favors 51s7snq 51S7SNQ

source

Mini Cookies: Either baked by me, or ordered from Mrs. Fields, who doesn’t love cookies? I’m certainly leaning on the Mrs. Fields side of this one. It’ll save me a lot of time and money, as I usually get a little too ambitious when I’m baking. I can already see myself, $500 later, wondering what other type of cookie I can come up with. It’s a disease. I’m convinced. And speaking of being overly ambitious, our third, final, and favorite option:

Grazie, Danke, Merci, Gracias... : wedding favors Macaron01 macaron01

source

French Macarons: Ever since I came across Mrs. Perfume’s macaron post on the ’bee, I’ve been intrigued by those adorable, colorful, delicious looking desserts. Nevermind that I had never actually tasted one. That was until a few weeks ago, when the FI and I were on a weekend getaway and I spotted this great little shop called Le Macaron. I bought every single flavor they had, and now I’m obsessed. Once we got home, I started baking like a mad woman, into the wee hours of the night, trying to perfect this little pain in the a-star-star of a treat. 3 batches later, and I had finally found my niche (I’ll post my method later!). I love a challenge, and perfecting these temperamental little buggers was SO gratifying. But, as much as I love them, they are quite a bit of work and I’m not sure I’ll be prepared to handle the added stress in the days leading up to the wedding.

What do you think, should I take one for the team and whip these babies up for the wedding? Or should I go the easier (and less stressful) route of simply buying and repackaging the favors? Which edible favor would you prefer?

Well… I don’t love Jordan Almonds, or macaroons (I know. I know) So for me, the easy choice would be cookies!

Go for the macarons, assuming you can keep your stress level low enough and find some helpers! You can always do some ahead of time and freeze, no?

Can you buy the macaroons for the wedding–or are they too expensive to do that? Is it possible to make them two or three days in advance? That’s the only way I would do it, because on the day of, you should only be concerned with enjoying your day and looking pretty! :)

MACARONSSSSSS. So yum :)

I vote for buying and repackaging. I think we never have as much time as we think to DIY bakng and stuff. Unless you have a team of lovelies (that you can count on) to do them for you.

Holy cow, those almonds look ridiculously awesome! I’d be afraid to eat them, cause they almost look like metal stones. :p

Macaroooooons would be the tastiest.

Mmmm, cookies or macaroons. :) Yum! Almonds make my throat close, so I’m not a fan, and the others are more unusual anyway!

I think Jordan Almonds are coming back around. But we also import ours from Egypt so they are even deliciouser than standard JAs. I don’t really love JAs, but you could have bags of JAs and bags of like, custom colored M&Ms. Then people can choose, and everybody goes home happy!

Well I say cookies… but I’m kind of biased ;) I will tell you though that it is a huge undertaking to bake them the few days before your wedding so I would suggest maybe just buying them… but who doesn’t like homemade cookies?… Hhhmmmm I’m no help whatsoever

I think I like the macaroons best. I know that while some people like jordan almonds, a lot of weddings that I have been to they just sit on the table. Whatever you guys like best, though, since it’s your wedding!

The idea of last minute baking scares me, but do some test runs, freeze a few and see how it goes.

I don’t think I’d understand that I’m supposed to eat the almonds … and I’ve never had Macarons - but they look so delicious!

Ooooh - I’ve been thinking about making my own macarons since Mrs. P’s posting as well. Can’t wait to see your process, hopefully I’ll find time to give some a shot soon!

My fiance and I made chocolate hazelnut macaroons for my family last Christmas and they still rave about them! It is time consuming, but if you have some good friends who are willing to help you set up an assembly line, then it won’t be too bad. I say go for it!
