Miss Lamb, Norfolk Age and Occupation: 25, Homeland Security Consultant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Graduate Student Engagement Date: January 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Trinity Presbyterian Church/Harrison Opera House About Me: I’m a Homeland Security Consultant with a tendency towards pulling office pranks, taking lunch breaks, and drinking Wawa shakes. I’m also an English major with a serious obsession with alliteration and rhymes. While I’m not keeping America safe, I’m training for half marathons and the Escape from Alcatraz swim. Or moving for the third time this year. Or baking. Or wedding crafting. Or crying about wedding planning. All the while, I’m getting myself into Lucille Ball-esque scrapes and making Jim Carey-esque faces. Our big fat Czech/Baptist/Jewish/Italian wedding is a combination of vintage eclectic, DIY, and little spoonful of sugar from our Event Coordinator. It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!
About Miss Lamb

Man-wear

October 15th, 2009 @ 10:57 am by Miss Lamb

Besides bouts, the other man accessory I love to love is the cuff link. Come to Momma, French shirt wearing man with cuff links and those detective suspenders holding his gov. issued weapon! Seriously.

Take a cold shower and join me again in the cuff link discussion. I saw Miss Bruschetta’s cuff link post and found some new inspiration for gifts for the men in my life. Because I’m certain the men in my life also don’t bother themselves to read wedding blogs (they’re adverse to throwing up in their mouths a little bit every time I say tulle, thermography, and centerpieces), I’m going to reveal the cuff links that I purchased for my dad and brother to wear.

After seeing this link in Bruschetta’s post:

And balking at the price (pun intended!), I promptly began searching for alternatives. Our family grew up on red meat, potatoes, and baseball, so I knew I had to have something that commemorated those red ties that bind us.

A quick Etsy search uncovered the solution!

These may look a little rougher around the edges, but that’s how we roll anyways. After a conversation with the seller, we agreed to a discounted price with no shipping costs for two pairs and they arrived in my mailbox about 1 week later. I’ll be saving them as Christmas presents and can’t wait to get a shot of my Dad and brother together at the wedding wearing them!

Are you searching for links for any of the men in your life? Did they have sentimental value to you?

I’m trying to find some classy/good/not-so-polymer-clay-looking Nintendo cufflinks or robot ones. (He loves video games and works in robotics. My very own mad scientist/engineer!)

Yes I can’t wait to give them out! All the guys are car guys, so the GM and FI got 5 speed gear shift ones, his dad got wrenches, my dad got guitars, and my brother got pool tables with a pool stick on top the table. :)

Everytime I see this baseball cufflinks I remind myself how much loverboy needs them! Then I remember that there are a billion other cool cufflinks (as MrsSl82be pointed out) that would go great for him, too. Would it be too much to ask him to change cufflinks every hour?
But seriously - can’t wait to see these in action - they’re awesome!

On our 1st date, fiance and I played Scrabble. I few months into our relationship, I bought him Scrabble tile cufflinks with his initials. ! year later, he proposed over Scrabble & just happened to spell out ‘Will you marry me’ on the board. So, we’re having a minor Scrabble theme to our wedding & fiance already has his Scrabble cufflinks to wear on our special day….Yay!

Those cufflinks are beautiful! If boy didn’t already have his own collection, I would totally get him those! Maybe for Christmas.

We may be having a friend of a friend make ones with the male and female main characters from Cave Story, but he’s not sure how easy it will be.
