I have a confession to make: I am hopelessly obsessed with all things ballet.

If there is any one regret in my life, it’s that I didn’t take ballet class throughout my teen and adult years. I kid you not, I have wanted a pair of pointe shoes my whole entire life. There’s just something about them. But every time I get thisclose to buying a pair, I talk myself out of it. What on earth would I do with pointe shoes? Sure, as a non-dancer, I may have an uncanny ability for being “en pointe”, I nailed a double pirouette on my second try, but outside of that I have NO CLUE what I’m doing. Unfortunately, I think my personal ballet ship hath sailed. So what does any of this have to do with weddings, you ask? Well, though my love of ballet is not a central theme in our wedding (how cool would it be for me to show up in pointe shoes, the FI in tights, and we bust out “Swan Lake” as our first dance? Mr. R may not like it much, but a girl can dream). I might try to sneak in a few touches here and there. So, without further ado, here are a couple of semi-ballet inspired inspiration boards for your (okay, okay, and my) viewing pleasure:
This one makes me die a little inside, I love it so much. It’s one of the most obviously ballet inspired ones I’ve come across.
The necklace, the chandeliers, the dress: to die for. It’s so Parisian.
I can just see the little girl with wings and the woman in the floral wreath twirling around on stage.
Here’s a colorful spin (tee-hee, I couldn’t help myself) on the ballet theme. The little girl in the pink tutu? Adorable!
And this: the piece de resistance. My favorite. The ballet wedding board of all ballet wedding boards. Droooool.
Is there anything that you’ve absolutely loved since childhood that you will be basing your wedding around? How about a simple nod? What one thing just makes your heart stop when you see it?

My childhood addition will be… crayons. 
@fiftyfootbride: To be quite honest, I LOVE crayons. The smell of them just instantly brings me back to my childhood. My whole color vocabulary comes from crayola. “Honey, this is not lilac, it’s Purple Mountain Majesty.” I actually have the 120 pack. With which I color in my Hello Kitty coloring book. It’s kinda sad, actually, lol
LOVE that!! I danced with the Charleston Ballet in SC growing up - was in over 30 productions. On our honeymoon, in San Francisco in December, we have great ideas for the SF Ballet’s Nutcracker. In fact, our recessional (we have a string quartet) is the Russian Trepak music from Nutcracker.
Those boards are goregous and now I’m wishing I had put more ballet-inspired things into our wedding!!
I rock leg warmers on a regular basis when practicing my ballroom and Latin dancing (fiance is a pro and he HATES them). Also, I’ve been toying with the idea of getting pointe shoes to walk around the house in. I’m told it’s excellent for sculpting fantastic legs.

My mom wore ballet slippers with her wedding dress…not pointe shoes, but it was still SO cute.
I always wanted to be a gymnast…but that translate as well to weddings

So, in my apartment alone, I have 3 boxes of 120, and 2 boxes of the 64. It’s sad. At my parents’ house, I have boxes and boxes and boxes. The smell also brings me back.
I love the smell of Play-Doh (sp? I know it’s spelled weird. Too lazy to look it up… lol). One of my friends bought me some, and I seriously just sniffed it for like five minutes.
These inspiration boards are gorgeous!!! I danced all through school and unfortunately my point shoes were always bloody and dirty because I danced so much- not as pretty as the photos above!!
I too always wanted pointe shoes but only took ballet for one year. I actually tried them on once but never actually bought a pair. There’s just something so enticing baout them, although anyone who ever dances in them seems to hate pointe shoes.
The inspiration is so lovely! It looks like you could easily incorporate some decor elements that would have the ballet feel but not necessarily be too obviously ballet.
I love those boards — I almost posted the first one as my inspiration board. It’s definitely in my style file.
Oh man, I have a ballet fetish too, but I probably won’t be incorporating it other than maybe wearing ballet slippers if I can’t find any other shoes I like.
I danced en pointe in high school and it really messed up my feet. 
But they sure are pretty…

one of my friends wore ballet slippers, also not pointe shoes, to her wedding. she said it was the best decision since she didn’t have to worry about her feet hurting
Have you ever heard of Gavin DeGraw’s Dancin’ Shoes? The title of your post reminded me of it. Doesn’t have much to do with ballet shoes though. I say if you’ve longed for the shoes this much then you should buy them! They would be some very loved shoes
I love ballet too! I spent much time hunting down a dress in the perfect shade of Degas blue for a friend’s wedding. And I’m digging out my point shoes so I can be a ballerina for Halloween.

I’ll actually be wearing ballet slippers for the wedding! I was a dancer until mid-high school (almost 15 years) so as a homage to my dancing years, I’ll be dying a pair of white split-sole slippers!
I’m excited to wear a comfy pair of slippers made for a girl to dance!

aww man - I love ballet. I danced for years but not long enough to land me in a pair of pointe shoes. Then, I went to a college focused on Modern dance where there are NO shoes! But I, like you, considering buying a pair of pointe shoes, putting on my big-girl panties, and actually giving them a go all the time. I had a pair when I was 13 - but they never got worn and are now too small!!
I DEFINITELY want a portrait of me en pointe, doing an arabesque, kissing my husband in my wedding dress. Would need to get engaged first, though…
That last inspiration is BEAUTIFUL! I love bubbles, so we’re hoping to have that as our send off. And baking cupcakes, even though I don’t actually LIKE cupcakes!
I LOVE your inspiration boards! I danced for abou 10 yrs and I’m going to be en pointe for my engagement photos. I also just bought my gown — Monique Lhuillier’s Swan Lake. So yes, my gown will be very ballet-esque.

My first set of pointe shoes still hang on our bedroom wall to this day. But just those because I grew out of them very quickly, the rest are pretty shotty and bloody on the inside, but of course I saved them anyway. And I think the Mr. will tease me forever about the fact that my toes a flat on top from dancing for so long. ahhhh still drooling over the pictures
