We just received our discs from our photographer, so the official Taffy recaps are ready to begin! Before I post about our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, I’d like to start things off with a quick recap of the week before our wedding.
All week there had been a lot to do, but I was on track with my schedule and thrilled to see friends and family arriving from out of state. Last minute decisions were made: we scrapped the idea of OOT bags and used the money to pay for a guest shuttle after hours, and placed a map of Ann Arbor and an info card for the shuttle in their rooms instead. We nixed bathroom baskets because I realized the bathroom in our venue had no ledge to place them on!
A picture of our venue taken a few days before the wedding:

Everything was going very well until the day before, which resulted in what I like to call ‘the storm before the calm’. ![]()
The night before (two nights before our wedding) was Mr. Taffy’s bachelor party. We knew having his party so close to the wedding day wasn’t the best idea, but with most of the bridal party and family being out of state, we didn’t have much room to budge.
Unfortunately, he was delivered to me at around 2:15 AM, completely wasted and covered (seriously, covered) in vomit. I spent the entire night (until about 6:30 AM) helping Mr. T clean up and feel better. (I will spare you the details! Ugh.) I probably got around an hour and a half of sleep that night/morning. This completely threw me off on Friday, and although there were only six or seven things for me to do before our rehearsal, I had a complete meltdown! One or two tasks seemed impossible with my mix of jumpy nerves and lack of sleep. It was not pretty! Luckily, I had some help from Mr. T’s brother and fiance, who were staying at our house.
The whole day was a complete and utter mad dash. I had to recruit a friend last minute to help me move my wedding dress from its hiding place to my mom’s hotel (she was supposed to be in Ann Arbor around 11:30 AM, but didn’t come until right before the rehearsal at 5:30!). I couldn’t find the boxes that I had purchased for the bridal party gifts, and had to send someone to find replacements after I went to a few stores and came home panicking and empty handed. Best of all, I somehow lost the earrings that I had bought for my bridesmaids!!! The craziest part is, I still haven’t found them! (I have since found the lost boxes.)
On top of that, I was extremely worried about Mr. T, who was in pretty rough shape.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I made up for my complete lack of wedding planning stress all in one day! Luckily, the panic wore off ten minutes into the rehearsal. I can honestly say that our wedding day did not have a single drop of stress—I got it all out of my system the day before! Whew.
I want to share one more thing before the rest of my recaps begin. A few days before the wedding, I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my aunt and uncle. I was so touched when I read the card:

It was so sweet of my aunt and uncle to send me this card. It really helped me to feel like my dad was there, cheering us on before we took this important step together. I know that my dad would have loved Mr. Taffy, had he lived long enough to meet him. Receiving this gift also gave me a private moment to grieve the fact that my dad would not be present on our wedding day. As a result, I was filled with happiness and joy just knowing how happy and proud he would have been, just as the note suggested.
How did you feel the last few days before your wedding? Were you calm, or did you have a meltdown like I did?
