Cake Toppers, Continued

October 18th, 2009 @ 1:40 pm by Miss Chick

Today is my second day at home from work with bacon flu. Okay, I don’t really have bacon flu, but it’s fun to say bacon! I can’t stop blowing my nose, sneezing, or eating Gardetto’s (skipping the sesame bread sticks, eek). Anyway, I was watching The Office: Pam and Jim’s wedding promo, and I noticed the adorable cake toppers!! It’s vintage, but quirky at the same time:

Did you have your cake topper custom made? Do the toppers represent or resemble you in any way?

I think we’re either going to find a vintage one, or have one custom made… by me. Lol.

The problem that I’ve found with the vintage ones is that it’s hard to find ones where both the bride and groom have black hair. There are so many light-brunettes and blondes. :(

@fiftyfootbride: I bet you can post an alchemy request on etsy and someone could make something custom for you for not very much money. How hard can it be to paint on porcelain, right?

Wow I watched that episode and the promos and never realized how freakishly small they made Pam’s wedding cake topper’s waist.

Anyway in a more productive note I really love Etsy Seller LollipopWorkshop.

@Miss Ladybug: Eww, yeah her waist is smaller than her head! It looks so weird!

I found someone who could bring out the geeks in us & put our Xbox avatars in wedding gear! They are REALLY cute but REALLY out of our price range :(

Ours is the bottom one with the pumpkin and the sheet music… it was a HUGE hit at our recent wedding and we can keep it always:)

I definitely don’t think they’re in our budget :( but I always love laughing at how cute/odd they end up being!

Since we’re having a dessert bar, I’m not sure if we’ll be doing one topper or a bunch of fun random things on top of some of the desserts.

We are having a beach wedding and I found this cute one with the same skin and hair tones as we have!

Can’t wait to see it on top of our seashell cake!

Thanks! I loved it and we just had a simple 3 tier buttercream frosted cake with Suisse Dot Pattern so it stood out in a traditional/non-traditional way! I definitely recommend it (it was more then I planned on spending but I am glad I did)

We got married by the beach so I bought these adorable mini adirondack chairs to be used as a cake toper, except when the time came to actually cut the cake there was only ONE chair on the cake! Doh!

I still cringe when I see the pictures…

i like the miis toppers that have been popular but since we don’t have a wii [hehe] that wouldn’t really work. other than that, i haven’t thought of having a personalized topper but i’ve loved all of the options i’ve seen!

fiftyfootbride… you can get paint for porcelan at michaels craft stores, if you or someone else you know has a steady hand its easy to change the hair colour. or add tattoos if you want ;)

I’m not sure we’re having a topper — I’m leaning towards not having one. But like the others, I didn’t realize that Pam’s head was bigger than her waist in that shot!

Also, just wanted to say that I love “bacon flu” — hilarious! And I also avoid the sesame breadsticks in Gardettos … what is up with those? Yuck.

Ours was a bicycle figurine that my amazing bm’s hunted down based on a photo I found on the hive :)

@Miss French Fries: I didn’t realize it either!
Thanks for the love on the bacon flu. Speaking of which I am hungry…and out of gardettos! :(
