I’m also an English major with a serious obsession with alliteration and rhymes. While I’m not keeping America safe, I’m training for half marathons and the Escape from Alcatraz swim. Or moving for the third time this year. Or baking. Or wedding crafting. Or crying about wedding planning. All the while, I’m getting myself into Lucille Ball-esque scrapes and making Jim Carey-esque faces. Our big fat Czech/Baptist/Jewish/Italian wedding is a combination of vintage eclectic, DIY, and little spoonful of sugar from our Event Coordinator. It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!

Winter Wraps

October 19th, 2009 @ 3:45 pm by Mrs. Lamb

Outside of off season discounts, one of the perks of being a winter bride is wearing an amazing wrap. I love this in particular because I know that in regular day to day life, I just can’t pull off faux fur in the same way. Ewe Mother sent me this list of winter wraps shortly after we had booked our venue.

Faux Fur Caplet with Ribbon Tie from Perfect Details:

Winter Wraps : wedding accessories Fauxfu Faux+Fu

Faux Fur Caplet with Brooch from Silk and Sable:

Winter Wraps : wedding accessories Fauxfu01 faux+fu01

I suppose a wrap comes in handy, especially if the rest of your bodice is see through.

Bridal Caplet with Muff, also from Silk and Sable:

Winter Wraps : wedding accessories Bridal03 bridal+03

Ivory Faux Fox Fur Bridal Shawl by Mega Faux Furs:

Winter Wraps : wedding accessories Ivoryf ivory+f

I also found quite a few options through a variety of Etsy sellers.

Ivory Faux Fur Bridal Shrug by SpAZooie:

Winter Wraps : wedding accessories Ivoryf01 Ivory+F01

Ivory Mid Length Faux Fur Trim Satin Bridal Wedding Cloak, also by SpAZooie:

Winter Wraps : wedding accessories Fauxfi Faux+Fi

White Mink Faux Fur Cape by Vladana:

Winter Wraps : wedding accessories Whitem White+M

Victorian Inspired Felted Wedding Bolero by Tiana Che:

Winter Wraps : wedding accessories Victori Victori

Since then, I’ve decided to go in a completely different direction for my winter cover up, but I still think about these glorious fur options, too!

Winter brides, what are you covering up with?

Those are some great ideas for coverups–I especially love how the last shrug looks frosty and iced-over.

I also love the reeeeally bad photochops of the Silk and Sable wraps onto those models. ^_^

Super cute, and so glad it’s all faux fur. :) I’m a spring bride in Texas, but I still love a good cover up! Can’t wait to see what you pick!

As a fellow winter bride, I too having been having fun finding a wrap! I ultimately decided to go with a camel-colored wrap for some vintagey contrast, and I am fastening it with a vintage brooch. I went with real fur, but it was an antique, so I didn’t feel as bad about it since no recent animals were harmed. :) I also threw some ivory long gloves in the mix, in case its really cold (you can find them on ebay for about $5)!

Don’t hate me, but I’m wearing fur!! I never thought I would (and I won’t ever again) but I think fake fur looks too costume-y and there are BEAUTIFUL vintage furs all over Ebay. I bought a gorgeous mink stole for $120 to wear to my winter wedding. It looks a lot like this beauty: http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Mink-Fur-Stole-Wrap-Capelet-Small-Medium_W0QQitemZ370275257059QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVintage_Men_s_Women_s_Accessories?hash=item5636200ae3

Even though my wedding is in June, I hope it will be cold enough to warrant a little bolero! I heart them, particularly the last one you showed!

I love those. They look so cozy and romantic. They remind me of Belle from Beauty and the Beast. *le sigh*

After getting a faux fur capelet that was the wrong color, I went with real blond mink capelet I got when my local theater sold their old costumes as a fundraiser. I kind of felt bad about it being real but it is vintage and proceeds went to support our amazing local theater. Also, I just love the look of it. I am wearing it with a knit muff that my talented mom made me.

Um … I love that last one! And yes, I suppose with a see-thru bodice it would definitely be handy to have a wrap. They’re definitely romantic and beautiful.

That last one is stunning. I never thought of this (our wedding was in May), but it’s a great reason for a winter wedding.

@Sarah: I really like the camel color too! A friend of mine did that color for her February wedding - beautiful.

I’ve decided to just wear a lace bolero - obviously for the looks and not the warmth. We prob won’t take too many photos outside.

I LOVE the last one; it’s gorgeous! Those first two pictures with girls in them have GOT to be photoshopped; they look like they’re sitting on top of the picture!
