About Mrs. Gloss

Dear Wedding Industry,

October 20th, 2009 @ 5:05 pm by Mrs. Gloss

I have already been married; please stop sending me multiple daily emails. I do not need to know the ‘#1 Hot Floral Tip for Brides’, or that it has been ‘Two Months Since Your Wedding’. I have unsubscribed from your mailing lists—some that I never subscribed to in the first place—countless times, and still you ignore my requests. I have marked you as ‘SPAM’ and still you come back for more. I get really excited when my phone vibrates alerting me that I have a new email and am perpetually disappointed when I learn that it is only you.
Please leave me alone. That is all.

Here’s my ‘Hot Tip’: If I were to get married again I would make a ‘getting married email account’ and use it for all wedding sites. That way I could completely ignore you after the big day except for on the occasions where I am bored at work and actually want to wade through the countless mass emails.

xoxo

(And that goes for you too VistaPrint.)

i did just that! i have an email address that is specifically for wedding related stuff so that (1) important things like contracts don’t get lost in all my other junk mail from my regular account; and (2) vendors won’t have my personal email and bug me long after the wedding is over. :)

VistaPrint is probably the WORST. Ugh.

I did that! We made an e-mail account that we can both use, that has all our information and dates and budget etc. That way our regular e-mails aren’t getting clogged, and this one has both of our names on it.

My email address for the past several years has been first initial-middle name-maiden name. I’ve been using it for all my wedding sites, but I’ve already created my “married lady” email address.

I wish I had done that too! That should be listed as the #1 thing to do after getting engaged and before planning your wedding.

Thats what I have decided to do - the day I get married I start using the ‘other ‘ email account that I started up with gmail so that way I can keep all information in one account instead of racking all the spam/junk in my personal email

Yup. I did that after I got tons of spam on my regular email. Anything wedding related or things I won’t need after the wedding are on a separate account. Even wb.

I made a separate email account. Best. Decision. Ever.

I totally did that. It was also nice because my email was first name-last name, so if I needed someone on a message board to email me something, I didn’t have to put my (rather unique) name out there!

I wish I would have set up a separate account, but didn’t think of it until it was too late. Luckily Gmail does a pretty good job of remembering what you mark as spam, so my spam folder is filled to the brim, but I don’t have to look at it all!

I did that too. And FI has access. All our vendor communication is in one place and since we both have access, FI is more involved.

I am with you, I wish I had made an alternate email account - I will forever share this piece of info with all my bride-to-be friends!

Word. I did a separate account, which I don’t really check anymore. Thanks for reminding me to check it ;)

Not many brides know this, but your local bridal show may be the biggest culprit of email spam. So be very very careful when you go to your local show, that you have that e-mail account ready, because the companies who attend are given your information, right down to your street address and wedding date. These vendors often then sell to third parties…..
Great advice for you all. Get a wedding only account!
