It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!

Fancy Shoes for Cheap

October 20th, 2009 @ 11:32 am by Miss Lamb

Cheap is my favorite adjective for a price. For any of you soon-to-be brides, or for anyone who’s going to attend any sort of party, or for anyone who wants to have a killer pair of shoes for a party they may get invited to, pay attention. I’m going to tell you how I landed my pretty shoes.

Step 1: Buy a lovely, but plain pair of shoes for cheap. You can scout eBay (where I found mine), Etsy, discount stores, etc. Here are some finds that I dug up in about 30 seconds:

Anne Klein White Satin Pumps

Silver Satin Peep Toes

Red Satin Peep Toes

Step 2: Scout for a pair of shoe clips or clip-on earrings at Etsy (where I found mine), eBay, estate sales, thrift stores, etc. These are some darling ones I’ve favorited on Etsy:

Vintage Shoe Clips from Fanny b Creations

Aquamarine Rhinestone Fur or Shoe Clips by Uncommon Vintage

Tiptoe Rectangular Clips by Smelly Shoes Vintage

Step 3: Clip the clips on your shoes. Seriously. It was THAT easy.

My shoes went from “eh…” to “whoa momma!” in 3.2 seconds. One of my favorite parts about going this route is that I can keep my shoe clips and add on the sparklies to any of my other shoes, just as often as I fancy. Vintage shoe clips, they’re a good thing.

Are you adding some DIY flare to your bridal shoes?

Wow, some of them are *so cute*! And I don’t think I would ever have thought to do this myself. :)

Great idea! Jsut wondering though - how comfy is it with clip ons? Does it irritate the foota at all?

The shoe clips don’t bother me at all. I used clips that were designed specifically for shoes. I’ve tried clip on earrings before and they can dig into you because their a little wider (since they’re meant for the ears). My J Crew pumps are actually the uncomfortable thing. Those suckers hurt during my fitting. But I’m going to suck it up during the ceremony then change to slippers for the dancing!

So much easier to keep a sentimental shoe clip than a sentimental shoe. Very cute.

This is exactly what I’m doing! My shoes weren’t that cheap, but they are SUPER comfortable (and plain, and boring, and ivory). With shoe clips? Totally different story.

In fact, I need to get on it and buy my shoe clips…

This is a fabulous idea! I also love doing colored shoe clips on a white shoe to add a hint of something blue or your color scheme. http://bit.ly/3KTktq

The Left Bank has TONS of shoe clips from $22. We take off the backs and use a jewelers adhesive to keep them on the shoe…that way they don’t dig into you like Miss Lamb mentioned.

Great idea and execution. I tried this once, but I failed miserably. They kept falling off. I think mine were pretty ghetto-fab Claire’s clips though. And I was like, 13. lol
