Pink Plaid Galoshes

October 20th, 2009 @ 12:50 pm by Ms Potato Chips

No doubt about it, today is raining-pouring-old-man-snoring.

It’s a good day to stay inside with a pot of hot coffee and a book.

And a fiance, when he gets home from work.

I wonder if it will rain tomorrow, when we get our engagement shots done. And I don’t much mind, because then I can wear my pink plaid galoshes with my navy blue silk dress. And then I wonder if it will rain on our wedding day. And if it does, if it’ll be raining like it is now: loud and with a purpose, this tree-rustling, come-up-from-all-sides-at’cha rain.

And I think, if it does, I won’t much mind, because then I can wear my pink plaid galoshes with my flowy ivory gown. I love the beach when it is rainy and cloudy and near-empty, with its muted tones of gray and dusty browns and yellows.

My boots are not in muted tones: they are bright and loud. But it would be fun to put them on and hitch up my dress and dig them into the sand and stand in front of a gray, grizzled ocean.

There are some pictures out there in the blogosphere that make me wish for rain on my wedding day! Some photographers can do the most amazing things with rain :) Having an adorable pair of boots like that wouldn’t hurt either!

Cute boots. :) I hope I don’t have to wear mine on my wedding day, but I wouldn’t mind wearing them for *fun*!

I call mine “Galoshes” and I wear them EVERYWHERE in the fall, winter and spring. Even here when it snows 2 feet, I wear them with wool socks and change into flats when I get to the office. I was at our under-construction house today, where dry September + wet October =’s MUD, and one of the carpenters compleimented me on them. LOVE the galoshes. I find them handy for tailgating the fall as well!

It did rain on my wedding day, last Friday, no cute wellies, at the request of the fiance, but then again it was the drizzly sort of rain, so they weren’t quite necessary. Hopefully the pictures will come out cute! Fingers are crossed. The one negative was that by going in and out in the dampness and then bunching my dress up for shots, it was quite wrinkly by the time the ceremony at our restaurant rolled around, but it was still lovely. At the end of the day, I might have changed out the rain for the sun, but honestly? it was awesome exactly as is.

Very cute rain boots! I long for rainy days when my house is clean and I want to curl up with a book and some good coffee. I also love when it rains in the fall and winter - good snuggling-in-front-of-the-fireplace weather :)

I must admit, as much as I hate rain, I’m kind of hoping that it’ll rain at the very end of our reception. I desperately want to leave the safety of our tent and have that last dance with Mr. Rainbow in the pouring rain, soaked dress and all.

I hate rain (and even more, snow!). We’re having an outdoor wedding with a tent so I am hoping for NO RAIN!

Those are fabulous boots! Rain or shine, I plan to find an equally adorable pair of rainboots to wear for photo ops with the farm animals on our wedding day!

I only wish for rain when I want to wear my galoshes. And when me the mister are sitting in the car on a cold day, looking over the water–it’s his favorite.

I don’t really like rain too much (because too often this time of year it’s mixed with snow around here) but I do love those pink galoshes!

I love some good rain. I have a favorite pair of Burberry rainboots, but right now I’m lusting over some black tall Hunter wellies. They’re sold out everywhere I go. :(

I love rain, especially big thunderstorms! Used to get them a bit in Northeast Texas, not so much in Austin.

My middle name is Rain. I love a good rain storm. Nothing better than a thunder and lightning storm. However, I definitely wasn’t hoping for rain on my wedding day but sure enough it poured . The day of I was a little bummed but I can look back now and see that in some ways it added something special to the day. Not to mention, the stormy weather made the colors in my pictures pop.
