In the beginning, I was fairly calm about finding invitations. I figured, ‘Whatever, everyone will just throw them in the trash, anyway. Heck, I’ll just run up to the store and pick some up!’ Yeah, apparently not. Once I became a wedding blog addict, I started seeing all the different (jaw dropping) invitations out there. Wow, this ain’t no “Party City” shindig, eh? Whoops, I think my Alabama is showing.
I started looking online for some chic, fairly simple, inexpensive invitations. To be quite honest, I couldn’t care less about all that letterpressed, engraved, embossed, Gocco-ed mumbo jumbo. If you can’t feel the letters raised off the page of our invites, it doesn’t matter to me. As long as they’re pretty and get the point across. First stop: Wedding Paper Divas. They have letterpress, but I would have opted for their standard digital. It’s much cheaper, and like I said, It just doesn’t matter all that much to me. I was thisclose to ordering invitations from them. Their site is so easy to use, you can toy with the wording and fonts, and you get to see the preview instantly. This was our first choice when our colors were still pink/green/gold:

Oh my, how my tastes have changed. All thanks to the drug that is Weddingbee, I stumbled upon this fabulous invitation suite via Flamingo:

Why’d you have to do it to me ’bee? Why? After laying my eyes on that uh.may.zing chandelier graphic, I knew I had to have it. I have an unhealthy obsession with chandeliers. I know, I live in Florida, but I really want to replace all of our ceiling fans with chandeliers. I want one in every room. Every room. Bathroom included. Fortunately for our budget (but unfortunately for me) Mr. Rainbow ain’t havin’ that. Real life chandeliers are expensive! So, I set off to find some great chandelier invitations. Apparently these are not all that easy to come by, or maybe I’m just picky… I’ll let you decide!

I was SO excited when I saw these invitations on Papeterie. They, too, have letterpress as well as flat printing. Of course, I would have opted to save some coin and gone with flat printing had I actually ordered these. Again, I came thisclose, but decided I should look around some more before I made the final decision. Etsy, here I come! (Is there anything that you can’t find on Etsy?!)

I really liked the simplicity of this design from Etsy vendor, Designer Pi. The fiance, however, was not a huge fan. Next up:

We both agreed that we liked this design, from Mon Cher Designs, the best so far. We even got so serious about it as to show it to my mom. That’s right, it met the parents. Told ya we were getting serious! She was into it, too. We were ready to take the next step and start the design process when I found (on WB, of course) the invitation to end all invitations…
BUT! If you want to find out, you’ll have to stick around for the next installment of Invitation Evolution.
Did the dreaded internet (and its endless supply of inspiration) force you to rethink some of your initial decisions? Did you have a hard time committing to your invitations?
