Time for a Little Makeup

October 21st, 2009 @ 3:21 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So I thought I could just roll up to my makeup trial and say I want a “bridal” makeup look. But for some reason I decided to search the internet for “bridal makeup looks” and this image came up:

Time for a Little Makeup : wedding makeup 14 makeup

Go ahead and Google it, I promise it’s there. That’s when I realized that people have very different ideas of what constitutes bridal makeup, and I better not just stroll in to my makeup trial empty-handed.

My normal makeup routine takes approximately 5 minutes. It includes powder, an eyelash curler, mascara, bronzer and Chapstick. When I’m going out at night, I will throw on some eyeshadow and MAYBE eyeliner if I’m feeling bold. I really want my wedding makeup to look like me, only me at my best.

Here are some looks that I really like:

I love that this one looks really natural––an almost nude lip, some peachy cheeks, and some shimmer on the eyes (I think this is my fav).

Again, I love the nude lip, and I also love the long lashes with lots of mascara, and the pink cheeks.

It’s kinda hard to see her makeup because of the editing of the photo, but I really like that her eyelashes stand out. I think that will be my focus.

This one has a little too much shimmer on the eyes for me, but I like the bronzy color, and light lip.

So, what do you think? Which look is your favorite?

I love the first one. It looks so clean! My only worry is that she looks a wee washed out. I think she just needs a dash more color somewhere, whether it be the cheeks, eyes, lips. If one feature were a little more emphasized, it would be perfect! She’s certainly got that glow!

I like the first one - a ton! It’s so beautiful and soft … the last look is definitely too shimmery for my tastes - I always feel like girls appear to have droopy eyes when they have too much of a light shadow/shimmer.

Emphasis on the eye lashes, not to much eye shadow etc…nude lips and a little blush…make up should enhance your best features

The first (uh, first not counting the rainbow eyes) and the last are my favorites!

I think J. Biel’s look gets it right - remember when doing a nude lip you need to go a little darker/dramatic on the eye to make it work. Otherwise in photos it will look like you have no makeup on.

@Miss Rainbow: I agree, a little too washed out, but I like the overall effect.
@Anniebelle: Good tip!

I like them all, but I think the first is my fav! I’m sure your MUA will be able to figure out what you’re going for if you bring these pics in to your trial.

In the words of Rachel Zoe, I die (at the rainbow eyes… literally… died). I’m seconding most of what everyone else is saying and loving the first actual look you posted. Nude lips are my favorite.

i like the first one. it’s more my style. i don’t wear any make up so i’m looking to keep with that theme on the wedding day. you know, “i want to wear makeup but not look like i’m wearing makeup!” hehe

I wore very natural makeup at my wedding, and in all my pictures I look a little washed out. Mind you, I did my makeup myself and I am certainly no pro, but I wish I’d made my lips just a tad deeper. I also forgot to reapply the whole night, so by the end I actually probably was wearing no makeup!

I really like the first one (and by “first one” I mean the first normal one…not that technicolor stuff at the top.) :)
