Miss Frozen Yogurt's Picture
Miss Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
About Miss Frozen Yogurt

Don’t be Tardy for the Party

October 22nd, 2009 @ 11:32 am by Miss Frozen Yogurt

I wrote this post while listening to this wonderful song, so I think it’s only fair if you listen to it while you read it. :)

Okay, I didn’t really listen to Kim, but it’s funny and it fit with the topic. The real reason for this post is to talk about the after party.

We have a lot of people coming from out of town to celebrate with us, and I don’t want our time to be limited from 6:30-11, so we are definitely having an after party. However, by this point in the wedding process I know I’ll be done with the formal, planned, organized events.

I’m going for something low-key that will offer me a chance to spend some time with my friends. Here is an example of the mood I’m going for:

Only, ours will likely take place in a bar we can walk to just a few blocks from our reception. And sadly, it will probably be without a fire pit (thought it looks really cool). Oh, and I already have the perfect dress.

Are you going to have an after party? Is it going to be organized or are you just going to hit up a local bar like we will?

We thought about this since our reception will also end on the early side, but decided against it–after all the family and friend events in the days leading up, I think I will be ready to just spend some time with my husband. :)

We actually did have a fire pit, s’mores and all. One of the groomsmen brought out his guitar, and we just hung out.

That is the coolest firepit!

Our afterparty will probably be at a bar, though parties like the one in that picture are really my favorite ;)

We’re definitely having an after party. We’re thinking about using the bus we’re going to charter for our wedding party to take us to the other side of the harbor to an Irish pub we’ve been going to for years and renting out the second story room if there’s enough interest. Then we’ll have the bus take us back to the hotel afterwards.

This sounds like so much fun (and I love that picture!) but I’m not sure if we’ll do it or not.

We had planned to go to one of the groomsmen’s cabins for the afterparty after our wedding, but decided at the last minute that we were ready to be alone for the night. We heard the next day at breakfast that it was a great party though.

We’re having an afterparty in the hotel bar/lounge. It’s a really nice space on the top floor that overlooks downtown. Plus we don’t have to worry about going to a downtown bar where it might be crowded or annoying and people can freshen up in their rooms, change shoes, etc.

since we’re getting married on lake michigan, we already have big plans for an after party on the beach… bonfire, smores, music, probably a few groomsmen ending up in the lake… it’s going to be fabulous!

We went to a wedding about 10 years ago with a fire pit and made s’mores! I have kept that idea in my wittle head for all that time now and decided (with help of my sis) that it’s time to revive the s’mores and firepit too! We’ll either do something like that for rehersal dinner or reception depending on the exact location!

Btw, that song just makes me cringe! I’m not a fan of the ATL housewives (and the one singing that silly song isn’t even married..but her bf is!..ewwwww~!)

You’re title of this post made me laugh…it reminded me of the girl on Bridezillas last week who kept saying “don’t be tardy for the party.” She was a wreck, like they all are! Anyway, we’re having an after party too, back at our adjoining hotel suites.

After that episode, I swear I was singing ‘don’t be tardy for the party” for weeks!

I think we’re going to have an afterparty at the hotel where everybody is staying. Though, our wedding is shutting down at 1am, I believe, and we might be too flipping tired to party.

we hired a bus and took everyone to a dueling piano bar where it was upbeat enough to boogie a little, but quiet enough to have conversations.
of course, everyone had a good laugh as we got dragged on stage to be made fun of.

we started the day at 7am and ended at 2am. exhausted, but so thoroughly amazing!

I’m torn on this afterparty thing. I’ve never been to a wedding with an afterparty. But I’m hoping to figure this out in time - it does seem like a pretty good idea but I get tired pretty early these days, and so does Loverboy!

We did an after party, and it was so much fun! Seriously, I’m so glad we decided to do it.
