About Mrs. Penguin

Mrs. Bee, Mrs. Apple Cider, Mrs. Onion, Mrs. Canary, readers Serena and Alex and I had the honor of attending the Martha Stewart Weddings 15th anniversary party at The Plaza Hotel this week. The event was set up to mimic a lavish wedding, hosted by the beautiful Darcy Miller. Highlights included a candy buffet by Amy Atlas, a photobooth, catering by Morimoto, 3 live bands, and elegance at every turn! It was a total blast, and it was great to hang out with the best and the brightest in the wedding industry for a night!

The room was cast in warm pinks, with white high tables and pastel florals.

One of the first stops we made upon walking into the event was Amy Atlas’ candy buffet. It was incredible to see one in person, and just as beautiful as you’d imagine it! They were working hard to keep the buffet filled all night, as guests stopped by and snacked on (or snatched up) the delicious treats!

The mini cupcakes were my favorite. They were dusted with gold and so gorgeous!

Darcy kicked off the party with a story about her beginnings 15 years ago at Martha Stewart Weddings, and Martha (who was unable to attend) welcomed us via video.

While I was in New York, Martha was at the Sur La Table in Santa Monica, mere steps from my old apartment. (I twitter stalked her that day to see what she was up to!)

The food and drink was so, so yummy. You’d have been disappointed if you didn’t come on an empty stomach! They had an array of mini-foods (burgers, grilled cheeses, salmon tartare), wedding-themed signature drinks, and food stations by some amazing chefs, including Morimoto. Meeting Morimoto was definitely the highlight of my life!

The Pipe Cleaner Lady was there making neat creations from… well, pipe cleaners! We all got our very own flower rings. They were so adorable, and so DIY-able!

Cakes were displayed grandly around the room by the top bakeries in the industry. We sat under Sylvia Weinstock’s and Wendy Kromer’s creations… Wendy Kromer made Mrs. Sunbeam’s cake!

On our way out, Mrs. Onion and I hit up the photobooth! The backdrop was a mock cover of a Martha Stewart Weddings’ magazine.

Here we are on our way out! Somehow we lost Alex along the way!

A big thank you to Sarah at MSW for passing along these gorgeous images to us, and to the entire team at Martha Stewart Weddings for hosting such an amazing event!

Serena has a big secret to share with the hive that we’ll reveal soon. It’s really exciting, so stay tuned!

It looks like you all had a wonderful time! I love the idea of the mini grilled cheese and some of the other food items!

I would love to take an up close look at some of Sylvia Weinstock’s gorgeous cakes and especially at her sugar flowers (so pretty!).

On meeting Morimoto? Oh wow! I bet he was a blast to meet in person!

@Carebear0613: I got it in a little boutique in my hometown last year so it’s old and I can’t find it online! It’s by Tracey Reese Frock! and she has a bunch of great dresses!

The Wedding Library was so proud to be the first planner ever chosen by Martha Stewart Weddings to plan an event for them. We loved coordinating all the beautiful things you saw at the event!
