About Miss French Fries

I outlined previously how we’ll be making cloth napkins for our wedding reception. I’ve recruited MOH French Fries and Mom French Fries, both of whom are well-versed in the sewing arena, to help me with this project. Luckily, I think that between the three of us we’ll be able to finish the project with our sanity still intact. (Fingers crossed!)

As for how the napkins are displayed for the wedding, I am envisioning black linens on top of each table, with the napkins placed on top at each place setting. Something a bit like this:

We won’t be lucky enough to have chivari chairs for our reception, but I do like the overall look and feel of these tables. The décor on top “pops” since it’s on top of such a neutral background. All of the tables at our reception will be a bit different, since we’re doing a different fabric for each table. I’m expecting that our guests will be so completely overwhelmed with the beauty of the ballroom that they will not be able to decide where to sit, with each table more beautiful than the next! (I kid, obviously.) But, seriously: how exactly will everyone know where to sit?

Why, escort cards, of course! Soon after we decided on the napkin idea, I fortuitously stumbled upon the one and only Martha Stewart, who had featured another bride who made her own fabric napkins and incorporated them into escort cards. I immediately fell in love with this idea. Each guest finds their card, and then matches their fabric swatch to the table with the corresponding napkin in that print. Genius, right?

And of course, it was displayed beautifully:

Another project to add to the ever-growing DIY list!

Are you assigning seating at your wedding? Do you have a creative display in mind?

We’re not having assigned seating, but seeing all of these beautiful escort card ideas makes me really want to make those pretty guys! :p

I really like the idea of matching the fabric. It’ll be super hip! Oh and black linens are totally swanky swank!

Be our guest, be our guest! :D

the fabric swatch idea is cute, but i think, unless the differences are very obvious, it’s kinda annoying for guests, esp if it’s a big wedding / big venue.

We’re probably assigning seating yes but have no idea how, who, what or why.

Love your ideas!

I love that escort card idea, I’ve had it bookmarked for a while and just haven’t had the time to commit to it yet. I’m hoping you do and then post a tutorial!

We’re assigning seating so I can make sure people get by who they know, and certain people don’t have to sit by other certain people. LOL!

Love those table inspiration photos! I wish FI would let me do black linens… :)

I love that song from Beauty & the beast! :) Cute title!

We are doing assigned seating using little paper airplanes for our long distance love/travel themed wedding!

I love the pictures! So similar to what I was thinking! I don’t think that we will be doing assign seating. I want to, but I also want my family and friends to sit with whomever they want.

That’s a great idea - and those tables look amazing - maybe your Beauty & the Beast friends will show up to help put the whole affair together!
