Miss Rainbow, Tampa Age and Occupation: 22, Makeup Artist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Electrical Engineer/Programmer Engagement Date: November 27, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Gamble Plantation About Me: I'm a quirky (and slightly Type-A) freelance makeup artist who was born in Washington State, raised in Alabama, and now living with my one and only in sunny Florida. I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. Someday the FI and I will change the world, but first we're tackling our modern-vintage-Marie-Antoinette-meets-Alice-in-Wonderland inspired wedding. I just can't wait to be Mrs. Rainbow!
About Miss Rainbow

To Top it Off

October 22nd, 2009 @ 5:32 pm by Miss Rainbow

Initially I had absolutely no desire for a cake topper. I figured I’d slap a couple of flowers on there and call it a day. Then came Etsy and its endless supply of ultra-fab cake toppers. Etsy is like the kryptonite to my wedding planning nonchalant-ness. Those darn Etsy vendors, they make everything seem so whimsical and cute and necessary. Needless to say, my cake topper “nonchalant-ness” turned into cake topper “gotta-have-it-ness.” Here is my list of Etsy’s top toppers*:

Custom Cake Topper

source

This topper is so freakin’ life-like and adorable. Your very own mini-me!

custom wedding cake topper with arch - you choose the details

source

Squeeeeal! This is one of my absolute favorites. It’s just so downright perfect. I mean, look at her little bouquet!

Custom Wedding Cake Toppers or Centerpiece

source

These kill me! Girlfriend is rocking that birdcage veil! Did you notice the matching red shoes? Rachel Zoe and I both die.

Custom Wedding Cake Topper - Small Hand Painted Love Birds with Nest and Painted Bouquet

source

Tee-hee! I can’t look at these and not giggle! They’re sooo cute, and it doesn’t hurt that this particular pair are in our wedding colors!

Custom cake topper Bride and Groom wedding birds with base

source

Last, but certainly not least, look at that bespectacled birdie! I also love the fact that the bride bird is wearing a birdcage veil, which I find hilarious.

What are you using as your cake topper? Are you purchasing one from Etsy?

*all toppers are customizable

I’ve been so unsure of what kind of cake topper we want… I want something cute, geeky, and us, but it’s tough! Nothing has stuck out at me!

Except that second one up there - I love the little banner! It’s too adorable.. don’t know if the fiance would be into it though.

Love these, the detailing on the 3rd is so adorable!

Awhile ago I had seen a red sox bride and groom wedding cake topper that i thought would be perfect for a grooms cake (my SO is a huge sox fan) but has since gone missing from my bookmarks! Searching etsy for it now, thanks for this inspiration!

I love the lollipop workshop cake toppers. The price is way too steep for me & I’m pretty sure the FI would think I’m crazy, but they are adorable.

I just bought the top one today! She books up really fast too (I’m next October). I absolutely love it and I’m keeping it a surprise for my fiance. I hope he loves it as much as I do.

They’re all so dang cute!!! I bought mine from mudcards (similar to the first one) and it is sitting on our mantle until the wedding! Even FI was excited about it!

These are all so cute! I wish I had known about Etsy when I was planning my wedding. We just went with a silver Wilton topper I purchased on ebay. The first set is def. my favorite!

I absolutely love the first one. I’ve been lusting after if for a while - too bad it’s way out of my budget!

My FI loves the animal ones…he really wants to get a custom animal cake topper for us - a bear and an elephant (long story behind it, but it’s definitely meaningful to us!). I’m pretty excited about it!

The second one is too cute! I’m using my mother’s vintage 1950s (she loved the 50s already during the early 80s) cake topper… but man do I love to drool over these. Great finds Miss Rainbow!

Cake toppers are such a hard thing to me - nothing has stood out this far - they’re all very cute but none of them SCREAM to me!

I love the second pair! If we weren’t looking for a bird topper I totally would have gone w/ those.
I did order a set of 2nd to last pair and I LOVE them! They are really cute in person, but much smaller than I thought they would be. (I really need to learn to look at the dimensions of something before I order it).

love the first two!! eep! I hope to get something cute and custom off etsy though I have an idea about two people running together and I haven’t seen that online anywhere yet. We met after running a race, so it might be a nice way to incorporate this. Although I love how the first one looks like the couple in real life!!

Those are so cute! I love anything and everything etsy. We are using my grandparents’ cake topper from 60 years ago.

The first topper is incredible… oh my gosh! It’s the best polymer clay topper I’ve ever seen!

I’m unsure what we’ll do for a topper– we’re having a cupcake/cake wedding cake (the mini cupcakes are resting on each tier) so I thought about using a large cupcake on the top w/ little flags with our names on it. I’m not really sold on cake toppers.
