Giddy, gleeful, giggly. These are all words that could be used to describe my feelings after I got an email from Mrs Penguin saying I had been accepted to blog for Weddingbee. Then I calmly shut my laptop, turned off the TV and went to sleep.
HA! That, my friends, is a joke. In reality, I bounced around in a circle in my studio apartment twice, did a face plant onto the bed then picked myself up, ran another 3 circles around the apartment and promptly did another head bomb into the bed. At this point, I’m pretty sure Mr Trail Mix thought I was actually insane, since I had yet to explain my exciting email. Once I did, he was pretty happy and excited for me as well but there were a few moments where I’m sure he was wondering if he made a mistake by proposing to a certified lunatic. Of course, I was buzzing (haha!) all night, thinking out this post in my head.
Anyways, hello, hola, bonjour, boas, konichiwa, etc.! I can’t believe I am actually writing this for Weddingbee, it’s still hard to believe I’m here. I’m so looking forward to getting to know you all and hopefully with all your support, ideas and inspiration, I will make it through our wedding in one piece. I’m planning a country-chic outdoor bonanza for approximately one million guests. No, that’s a lie; it just feels that way sometimes. It’s really more like 180-200 people. Help me along as I attempt to DIY the heck out of this wedding.

A little background information on Mr Trail Mix and me: I’m a physical education teacher at a private school in Manhattan and Mr Trail Mix is in his second and final year at Columbia University, working on his MBA. We started dating our senior year of college and will hit the 5-year mark in November.
We’re both former college athletes who now find any excuse to turn an activity into a friendly (and by friendly, I mean heated) competition. We both subscribe to the Ben and Jerry’s life philosophy of “If it’s not fun, then why do it?” (And ironically enough, both have a history of finishing entire pints of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.) He got me hooked on sushi and football, while I’ve gotten him to appreciate (although he still doesn’t quite “get”) my vintage, country aesthetic. He cheers me on when I run marathons and I cheer him on in his fantasy football league. Together, we’re living a life I never thought I’d be lucky enough to have but one I appreciate every day.

So now you know a little bit about me, what about you guys? Tell me something interesting about yourself!
