All That Glitters…

October 28th, 2009 @ 3:27 pm by Miss Trail Mix

… Is on my hand! I promised to show a picture of my engagement ring, so here we go. I didn’t pick it out, although I did give Mr Trail Mix some guidelines to go by. More on that in a little bit. He did an amazing job and even though it’s been more than 6 months since we got engaged, I still catch myself staring at my hand sometimes.

Here’s the frst pic of the ring, the day of the engagement at brunch. My mom brought me flowers; isn’t that sweet?

(Personal Photo)

A close-up :)

(Personal Photo)

I took this one after reading Weddingbee PRO Anne Ruthmann’s tutorial on how to take a good shot of your ring. It came out well enough, but I wish I my camera had a bigger lens so I could zoom in a bit more. I like the perfume bottle and feel of the photo but it doesn’t showcase my ring as well as some other pics I’ve seen.

(Personal Photo)

Although Mr Trail Mix picked out the ring himself, I did give him some guidelines after we went to a jewelry store to look at ring styles. To be honest, I wish I had been more forthright at that time but I was so giggly and overcome by all the pretty diamonds that I could hardly remember my own name, let alone pick out a style I liked best. A few months later, we sat down to talk about it and I said, “round stone, diamonds on the band, thin band,” and this is what he picked. I love it. It’s totally classic and I love what it symbolizes: I finally get to marry the love of my life!

So there’s my “preciousssssss” in all its glory.

Did you help pick out your ring? Did you give a vague description of what you wanted? If so, did the ring come close to what you had described?

Pretty ring. I didn’t get any say on my ring. It was all him. He did a great job though.

Your ring is beautiful! I got no say on my ring either, and it’s better than anything I could’ve imagined for myself. I’m quite proud of him.

I always said that I didn’t care if it came from a gumball machine as long as he wanted to marry me! The ring he chose was perfect because he designed it! Your ring is soo pretty

It’s gorgeous! I had given hints, but he went with something totally different that I absolutely love. We actually have pretty similar styles, so I think I’m a little biased!

That’s gorgeous! I didn’t help my FI at all - I just let him do his thing, and he did wonderfully! (Er, I did tell him NO YELLOW GOLD though - and I’m surprised he remembered.) :)

I gave hints and was totally worried because his eyes always glossed over and I could tell he wasn’t listening. Turns out he had his grandmother’s ring all along! And its way better than anything I ever dreamed of!

i gave him the exact style ring i wanted [he used those guidelines to pick out the promise ring he gave me on our first anniversary] but we both ended up changing our minds when we went ering shopping. it didn’t appeal to either one of us so now we’re going into a new direction. he knows what style i like and will make the decision from there.

I love your ring! It’s very similar to mine. At first I told my husband I wanted a 3 stone ring, but after trying one on I decided it wasn’t for me. After browsing online I showed him a few pictures and he proposed with one of the ones I had shown him without me ever trying it on. Thankfully I love it! Oh, and we were engaged for 1 yr and now married for 5 months and I still stare!

We went browsing together and I obsessed about this one ring. He says it’s the one he would have picked for me before I saw it.

I was sad since I knew we couldn’t afford it at the time. He ended up getting it a few months later by surprise.

I still love it and stare at it. :)

I didn’t help pick out my ring (or give any guidelines; if I had, it would have been “silver metal”, but my man knew that already). : ) Your ring is beautiful.

I like the shot in the car the best, its a beauty among the every day (like driving)! I think I have one cell phone pic of the ring, and it just doesn’t do it justice!

Thanks you all!!!!
I love my ring too (but I’m a little biased :)

@RecessionistaBride I am hoping to get a similiar wedding band but may end up with something a little thinner and more delicate, I’ll have to see what different bands look like next to the e-ring!

Lol @ the LOTR reference. Next thing we know you’ll be referring to people as “tricksy hobbits.” :p

(Is it bad that I actually do that? lol)

Wow, your ring is gorgeous! :) I gave my husband a couple of ideas about what I liked, but he chose the ring on his own. I was really impressed with his choice, so that was good. :)
