TJ Maxx and I Are Like *This*

October 28th, 2009 @ 1:09 pm by Miss Lamb

My name is Miss “Impulse Buyer” Lamb. I’ve got the shopping gene and it’s a strong one passed down by grandmewether to Ewe Mother to me. TJ Maxx, Ross, DSW, Marshall’s, Home Goods… I imagine a piece of heaven to be similar stores where you find a bargain every time you walk in.

Thankfully for my overtaxed personal budget, the wedding budget has allowed me to satisfy some impulse buying without any guilt. For example, I was wandering around TJ Maxx at the Janaf Center (a tad on the sketchy side, but they have surprisingly good stuff) and happened to spot these little guys:

I had candle holders on my list of wedding items to buy. I like lace. I like vintage. Black is in my color palette. I held my breath and checked the bottoms for prices. Clearance! Cha-ching! I grabbed the trio and walked out that night with about $10 less in my pocket and these beauts swinging in a bag from my arm.

Can’t you picture them on my guestbook table? Or maybe by the seating chart? I can’t wait to see the candles in them and how the lace looks with the warm glow!

Are you keeping your eyes out for wedding items at your regular haunts? Have you had any success stories at discount stores?

I always look for things I can use for the wedding! I found little easels at the dollar store when I wasn’t looking for wedding things!

I love those! I found some huge vases at Ross once, I wanted to buy two… the klutz that I went to grab one of them off of the lower shelf and it broke.

I was so embarassed that I just left. LOL.

I too have had that gene passed down to me. Sometimes I love it, sometimes it haunts me. We have 2 TJ’s (we are on a first name basis), 2 Ross’s, and a brand spankin new Marshalls WITH Homegoods. I am a bargain shopper to the maxxx.

I found super awesome apothecary jars at Marshalls and TJ Maxx! I ended up not using them for the wedding but they would have been perfect for a candy bar and they were less than $10 each!

I’d hit up TJ Maxx, Ross & Marshalls at least twice a week when I was collecting stuff for the wedding. I’d make a beeline for the Housewares aisles, get what I could find, then drive to the next one. It didn’t take long to figure out which days the new shipments would arrive. :o)

i love all of the T.J.X stores. I even applied to be a buyer for them but sadly I never heard back after the interview (I followed up and they could not find my application but that’s another story). I actually got the mini candles for my centerpieces from Marshalls and TJs clearance section. I happened to have my brother with me when I found them and proceeded to drag him to 3 more stores until we found enough of the same color. There’s a T.K. maxx (the European name) near my FIL but sadly, that is 7 hours away from where I live, it’s good from my wallet though.

Super cute!!! I’m a deal-hound, too — and love, love, love to tell people what a great deal I got on things. It’s gotten so bad that online, I rarely buy anything unless I have a coupon code!

Great deal! I’m a huge fan of all three components- black, lace and candlelight. They will look amazing!

One of my bridesmaids is a buyer for Homegoods, I got a great deal on my centerpieces from there! I love Homegoods. Our centerpieces will be re-usable and super cheap. I actually have one displayed in my bedroom. You can totally use those again too!

The only thing thats tough is going in there after registering and seeing how much cheaper everything is. Like the Calphalon pans we registered for. I wish you could register there! Although my buyer friend explained why it wouldn’t work, but it’s still wishful thinking.

I am BEYOND obsessed with Marshalls and TJ Maxx, I’ve gotten some amazing finds there (mostly on the clothes side…HELLOOOOO Seven For All Mankind jeans for $40!)…If you ever get up to NYC, you HAVE to go to Loehmanns, it’s like TJ Maxx on crack, seriously high end pieces for very very cheap!

Those are beautiful! I love TJ Maxx - it makes me happy … I get such good deals on clothes there and decorated every dorm room and apartment there in College (thus leaving me with tons of stuff now).

I check out the initials (the big ones that go on the wall) everytime I go to TJ Maxx and Marshalls. I did pick up a birdcage to use for cards at Marshalls a few months back!

The Janaf TJM has great stuff…..you may want to try the one down on Virginia Beach Blvd….just before Great Neck Road…lots of home goods there…they may have more of what you already found, if you need them!

Oh my - the holy trinity of shopping - TJMaxx, Marshalls and Home Goods! Love them!!!

I scored an embossed silver, velvet lined box that I’m using for a card box and a really big round guestbook platter w/ a wedding cake painted on it that I adore. Those two finds alone saved me at least $100.

I love shopping at T.J. Maxx, Ross, and Marshall’s. But especially Ross, because then I get to sing the song afterward. (”Do you love it? I love it! I got it at Ross!”)
