After the vows were said, the papers signed, and the hugs administered, it was time for more portraits!
We sent our families on their way back up to Grand Forks, and spent a little time touring Hillsboro (or the area directly around the courthouse, at least) with Shawna and Kory. They’d arrived in Hillsboro early and had already scouted out a bunch of fun backdrops for our couple portraits…
[All photos in this post were taken by the fabulous Shawna Noel Photography unless otherwise noted.]

Gratuitous bouquet p0rn:

This next shot was MIL Mary Jane’s idea: She thought we ought to pose like our cake topper (which you’ll see a lot of in the next recap!). Hmmm, too bad I didn’t buy the ass-pinching cake topper, *wink wink*…

Neither Mr. Mary Jane or I are super-in-love with our expressions in the jumping shots, but everyone we’ve shown them to looooves this next one, so I’m including it for you. (Side note: I DID shave. That shadow in my ’pits is just that: a SHADOW, capisce?)

I was kind of afraid we would break this very rickety old bench, so we didn’t do too many shots here. (Also, what the heck is my right foot doing in this shot? A little tap-dance?)
Photographers have to have a really good eye to envision shots like the one below. We were literally in a muddy dirty parking lot behind a bar, with piles of garbage and rusty junk all around us, standing in knee-high weeds and being bitten by tons of gnats and mosquitoes. And yet, we got shots like these:
And then we broke out our ’props’: our cameras! Mr. MJ and I share an interest in photography, so we thought our cameras would make great additions to a few shots.

We managed to snap a few pictures of each other…
…and of our paparazzi, too!
(*This photo and the two above it are credited to Mr. Mary Jane or myself.*)

I almost didn’t ask for these shots - I felt kind of dorky doing so. But Shawna and Kory were happy to oblige, and these photos ended up being some of our favorites from the whole day. Brides: if you want something, man up and ask. Don’t try to ’play it cool’.

The last portrait I’ve got for you today is one that I just really love. It’s not very detailed, or contrasty, and you can’t really see us very well. But it just reminds me of the kind of vintage snapshot I adore.

After all this photo-taking, we were mighty hungry. So we set a course for home to join our families for dinner.
