Miss Lamb, Norfolk Age and Occupation: 25, Homeland Security Consultant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Graduate Student Engagement Date: January 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Trinity Presbyterian Church/Harrison Opera House About Me: I’m a Homeland Security Consultant with a tendency towards pulling office pranks, taking lunch breaks, and drinking Wawa shakes. I’m also an English major with a serious obsession with alliteration and rhymes. While I’m not keeping America safe, I’m training for half marathons and the Escape from Alcatraz swim. Or moving for the third time this year. Or baking. Or wedding crafting. Or crying about wedding planning. All the while, I’m getting myself into Lucille Ball-esque scrapes and making Jim Carey-esque faces. Our big fat Czech/Baptist/Jewish/Italian wedding is a combination of vintage eclectic, DIY, and little spoonful of sugar from our Event Coordinator. It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!
About Miss Lamb

My Little Blue Book

October 30th, 2009 @ 5:21 pm by Miss Lamb

This is my little blue book - full of wedding vendors, to do lists, and inspiration. It has been my constant companion, even through my seasonal purse change.

Blue+Bo

My dear Aunt sent it to me shortly after my engagement and inscribed the first page with a note and a verse from the Bible.

Blue+Bo01
You can also see all the junk that fell out of the front, including a handwritten list and my makeup artist’s card.

Blue+Bo02

My aunt also tucked in this little card of advice about God being involved in your marriage and playing a role in cementing your bond as a couple. It serves as a reminder that we’re not alone and that God is there for us.

Blue+Bo03

It has handy dandy tabs for appointments, ideas, to dos, books & mags, budget, and shopping. As you can tell, the budget and shopping tabs are starting to wear a little ragged… hmmmm.

Blue+Bo04

This is an example of the type of item that I track in this little book. I was scrolling through dafont.com and instead of bookmarking each of my favorites, I just jotted down the names so that I had easy access to them later if I wasn’t in front of my computer.

Blue+Bo05

Some things still don’t quite make it into the book - like this note to call a vendor. It did, however, make it to a sticky note which got stuck to the back of my little blue book. So I consider that a half success. Is that optimism? Or is that wedding brain disguised as optimism???

Do you keep a notebook in your purse for spontaneous wedding thoughts? Do you use your smart phone or another electronic form?

I keep a notebook and the ever important color card. Yours is so much more prone to organization.

that’s so sweet of your aunt! I had a large binder that went with me everywhere!

Shortly after we got engaged, Mr. Potato Head put together a wedding binder full of dividers and To-Do lists. It lives under our coffee table. I love your notebook; great way to keep organized and it’s super cute.

Great idea–I should’ve been more organized in my planning.

Fun - I have a thick folder with clear sleeves my sister purchased me , so I can write notes and tuck documents in! It’s even in our wedding colors =)

Aw, what a cute book! I keep everything in google documents so that my fiancé can edit them and others can read the info on an ad-needed basis.

My planner has extra pages in the back that I am always jotting things on. We have a wedding planner that goes with us on any wedding errands, but my planner is always in my purse!

Mr P bought me a gigantic binder for my wedding stuff- after seeing a recently married friends binder. It’s great for keeping ideas and contracts etc, but not so easy to transport. I think I need a notebook…

So cute! Love the color. I have a spreadsheet for everything and printed copies in a big binder where I also put contracts and receipts etc. I also have a Weddings bookmark folder. Then I use my phone for everything else I think of or find on the go. Every night, I sync my computer and my phone so everything I have in both.

That is a really sweet gift! I have a folder labeled “W” on my laptop where I dump everything (pictures, contracts, everything). I started a paper notebook, but I use my laptop so much more frequently that the notebook has my venue contract in it….and that’s about it.

I plan to get one myself. my wedding planner is a 3 inch binder so it is definitely not portable like this one!

That’s such a cute planner! I use my iPhone, mostly because I have it with me at all times and it’s easy to type something in/delete it if I decide I don’t need it anymore.

That’s so sweet!
I keep a squared moleskine on my person at all times. Everything goes into that puppy, then eventually gets routed to the appropriate places.

what a pretty blue book. it seems so my more *bridal* than a binder…potentially less practical, but much prettier

@Soon2bMorath: Thanks for the link! I’m considering it now too! Though, I’ll probably be too scared to hurt it like all of my other bridal-planner things. :p

@Soon2bMorath: I had no idea where she bought it, so good find!
@All: I’ve found it to be the perfect size and very handy. I’m more of a visual person and if I write it, I remember it better than typing. I think one of the keys to being organized is to find the most efficient way for your personality! :)

If I have ideas I write them in my small journal that I carry or my cell phone. I also have another journal just for DIY projects.

The book is so cute and will be a wonderful keepsake. I tried to keep it all in one book but it ended up becoming a folder filled with remnants of diy projects and frantic notes.

@fiftyfootbride - Like you, every single thing that comes to mind gets thrown into the moleskine in my purse.
Of course, I tell myself I’ll put thing where they belong later … but they generally don’t make it and I end up sorting through moleskines to find what I wanted (they fill up so fast)!!

I was just thinking today that I need a new notebook JUST for wedding stuff!

That’s such a cute little book! My binder is getting a little too big, I’d like to have a small something like that to carry around in my purse.
