About Miss Snow

A Palette

October 31st, 2009 @ 11:35 am by Miss Snow

I finally made it to Home Depot to thieve some paint chips for assembling our color palette.

Our primary colors will be pale aqua (almost robin’s egg blue) and a hot tomato red-orange. Accent colors will be our neutrals (from pure white to maple to barn brown), green (from greenery and nature) and less saturated versions of the tomato in the forms of coral, salmon and azalea (mostly from the girls’ dresses).

Given the wide variety of colors, I was concerned that we could go from “Hip Farm” to “OH MY BLEEDING EYES!” if we didn’t get the colors just right and exercise some hue-related restraint.

So, I started playing with our paint chips. Here’s the final color inspiration:

What do you think? How did you get inspired to choose your wedding colors?

I like it! I like how you’ve thought through all of the accent colors, too. There’s no need to stick to 2 or 3 colors!

Thanks for the feedback all!

These colors do seem to be very popular right now (they’re pretty common in political campaigns and they’re colors in the Chicago flag…almost). We looked at a variety of combos (we thought about hot pink a lot…an homage to the bathroom, I suppose :) ), but this scheme seemed to fit the best for the season, locale, and aesthetic. Mr. Snow always says “Color combos are popular because they work” and I suppose he’s right.

@Miss Trail Mix: Yes, I loooove Miss/Mrs (Has the Hallowedding happened?!?!) Dachshund’s colors!!

Very pretty! I especially love the pairing of red and green and blue. Never heard of the paint chip idea, but that makes so much sense. It’s also great because you can literally take your palette with you when you’re shopping.

Love it! “OH MY BLEEDING EYES!” you are too freakin funny… I think the paint man at Lowes got a little suspicious of all the paint chip pilfering I was doing.

I love that combo! We used paint chips too and it made it easy to coordinate colors.

The colors are beautiful together. I can’t wait to see the final product :) And I never thought of paint chips… totally will remember that for friends!

Beautiful! Love that you used paint chips — we were going to play around with colors that way, but never made it to home depot. :)

We have the same color scheme! I love it…it can be translated into so many different styles! We’re adding a little silver to it as well to make it fit with our art deco theme.

What a unique palette! I was worried about bleeding eyeballs, too (we chose bright pink, orange, and yellow), but I think we’ll both be fine. : )

I chose my colors the same way with paint chips, except it took not one, not two, but THREE trips to Home Depot. Every time I got some home, I would want more! I’m SO happy with my palette now though
