Okay, this post is going to sound kind of gross. I kept trying to figure out how to talk about this in a less gross way, and just couldn’t.
My entire life, I’ve always had moles on my neck and collar bone area. Not hairy, gross moles, but not sweet beauty mark moles, either.

My nieces frequently point them out and ask me what they are and why I have so many. This is not really easy to explain to little girls, so I usually just say they are big freckles, and that it was just the way I was born.
It’s a Jaime Thing is a blog I have been following for quite some time and over the last few months Jaime and I have become blogging friends, so to speak. I reached out to her to put together some details to inspire an invitation design of mine and she came back to me with this dramatic and dark, True Blood board!

Prior to actually creating our save-the-dates, I had never done any embossing. But oh, what fun it was! Embossing the return address on our save-the-date envelopes was a quick and easy way to add a little extra touch to the finished product (and justify my heat-gun purchase, woo hoo!).

Is your SO’s profession in line with what you thought his/her profession would be?
Mrs. Dorsay - Hmm, hard to say. I never thought, ‘I want to be with a lawyer or a doctor or a web designer.’
I always hoped that my future spouse would be in a creative field and I’m very happy that Mr. D is. Between the two of us, our house will always be filled with ideas and interesting projects!
Mrs. Tulip - DC has the country’s highest number of lawyers per capita — most of the people I know are lawyers, and most of the people THEY know are lawyers. So it’s not terribly surprising that Mr T and I share law as a profession.
While any couple can appreciate each other’s talents, there’s a layer of added understanding when you’re in the same field. It’s nice to have an editor and professional sounding board on hand 24/7. And luckily our strengths are diverse — I’m a better writer and he’s a better businessman — so we both respect each other as the more talented partner. (Though he never lets me forget that I scored higher on the LSAT, ha ha.)

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
That’s how I envision Mr. Rainbow on our wedding day. Not too stuffy or stiff, just relaxed, comfortable, and handsome. Spiffy, if you will. To be honest, although we had this “spiffy” vision, we hadn’t really thought about specific menswear all that much. We just figured we’d rent something from Men’s Wearhouse so all the guys could match and be done with it. That was until we decided not to have a wedding party, and the whole wide world of menswear opened its pearly gates to us. While roaming around them there internets with my BFF, Google, I came across Mr. Brad Pitt (Okay, maybe I specifically searched for Brad Pitt, but… let’s keep that between me and you
) rocking this amazing grey suit:

Confession: I’m one of those girls who has been planning her wedding forever. Like, way before I got engaged. So I’ve had lots of time to dream about everything (plus, it’s a good way to pass the time on long runs during marathon training!). One of my favorite things to think about was the color scheme for our wedding. I love beautiful color combinations and I really felt that I wanted the palette to reflect Mr Trail Mix and me perfectly.
My first thoughts centered on a pink and grey combo. I was envisioning beautiful pewter silk bridesmaids’ dresses with peony bouquets and the groomsmen in grey suits with pink shirts and ties. Classy, no? I love love love this color palette below.
But after a while, I realized that A) There was no way Mr TM would wear a pink shirt/tie combo to his own wedding and B) Those colors didn’t really reflect us and what we like.

The other day, I was getting my teeth cleaned. (That really has almost nothing to do with the story, except that the hygienist who cleans my teeth is always super chatty, and usually asks me questions while that sharp pointy hook thing is in my mouth, painfully scraping away at my gumline. This makes it pretty hard to answer, as you might imagine.) The point is, I’m sitting there, and she’s scraping away, asking me questions about our wedding. She was going through her usual line of questioning, with me trying to utter a “mmhmm” for an affirmative response or a ”nunhuh” for a negative response. She then asked me a question that nobody has asked me, thus far, in our planning. She said, “So…with your wedding in this economy, you must be getting great deals, hey?”

Hmm. Well, not exactly, Ms. Hygienist.

So, I’ve made lots comments to Mr Pretzel: “I won’t do __________ when planning our wedding.” “I won’t be ‘that girl’ etc.” He always chuckles and says, “If I had a tape recorder!” As a way of keeping me honest and grounded I think it is important that I document these and update when I break them
. LOL… Mr Pretzel: correct me if I miss some!

There weren’t just a few kids at out wedding, there were A LOT of kids at our wedding. And with a lot of kids comes A LOT of really disgustingly cute kid pictures. There are so many pictures that the kids deserved their own post.
OK, get ready to want kids!

I know, I know, I’ve been a bad bee. I put off blogging to focus on my last couple of exams/projects for school… and then my laptop DIED. It was terrible - but one of my AWESOME classmates was able to save allllllll of my files/photos/wedding stuff! Whew!
I was thisclose to losing EVERYTHING. But now I’m back - on my new baby netbook (my early wedding/Christmas present from the ever-amazing Mr. Ramen).
To make up for my lack of posts, be prepared for LOTS of pictures from my shower!!! Remember those adorable blue+red shower invites I received a while back? My bridesmaids, especially Sister Ramen (my MOH) and Cousin Fishcake put TONS and TONS of work (staying up until 5AM the morning of!) into making my shower the BEST SHOWER EVAR! No really. It was that amazing… need proof?
my super cute and super awesome BMs (L to R: BM Dancing Queen, BM/Cousin Fishcake, MOH/Sister Ramen, moi, BM Crazy Giggles, and BM Cooking Mama)
In my last venue post, I talked about The One (aside from the mans of course, haha) – our venue, the Pierre Hotel. While we were so relieved to secure our venue and date, it was certainly a stressful process. What I found really helped was having a set list of questions to ask for each potential venue to get a better understanding of how that venue would work for us:
1. Is our date available? For us, we were pretty flexible about dates, but if you have a specific one in mind, this is crucial!

Remember when I said I wanted to wear a hair flower? Well, I lied. Okay, I didn’t really lie, but I’m having a hard time keeping my eyes away from all the latest headband eye candy out there.
See, two things really did me in. First was watching Say Yes to the Dress. I mean, Randy pulls out all of these amazing things, and I just nod along and add new items to my wish list. Well, on a recent episode (I have no idea if it was the most recent one or not, I just set my DVR to record it whenever it’s on), he pulled out this amazing headband that was reminiscent of the 1920s prohibition era. It was sparkly, it had ribbon, it was gorgeous. I put it in the back of my mind though, because I had already decided on a hair flower.
Then earlier this week, Chelsea from Oh My Deer posted more amazing headbands from her Etsy shop on Weddingbee PRO! I was smitten.
So what did I do? I ran to Google and started searching for my very own headband. Just to look though, you know, not to buy. I’m wearing a hair flower, remember? ![]()
Here’s what I found:

Anyone get the movie quote? It’s a classic…
Anyways, for the sake of my sanity and in an attempt to be (somewhat) organized, I’m making a list of all the DIY projects I hope (emphasis on the word hope) to complete before June.
1. Chuppah- This is a tent-like structure that couples stand under during the ceremony in Jewish weddings. There is a lot of freedom in the design of the Chuppah, which is good since we’re not really sure what we want to do. I’m thinking simple, rustic wood poles and a beautiful piece of lace, maybe with some decorative flowers along the front. Something like this, only with lace:
