Ouch. That’s all I have to say. Mr. Fro Yo and I have stated doing the ab ripper, which is one of the exercises in the P90X group. I’m pretty sure the “p” stands for painful. We do it every other day for about 15-20 minutes, and the first week I was so sore I thought people at work were going to ask me what was wrong with me because of the way I was walking. That’s right, it doesn’t just impact your abs, it also works on your hip flexors.
So why am I subjecting myself to this every other day? Well, I despise my stomach. I always have. Bikini shopping and I hate each other. For once in my life I would like to put on a bathing suit and not cringe. And, it’s not like I haven’t tried the other equipment. I have, but it just hasn’t worked.
Remember this guy?
While I was getting into my dress, the early arrivers were grabbing a little something to eat and a big something to drink. Our breakfast bar was set up in the school entrance plaza so people could hang out in the sunshine or shade during breakfast.

The title may be ironic as the China that we have chosen is not actually manufactured in China, but instead in Indonesia or the very vague Near East (according to Wikipedia). Is it ironic? Is Alanis Morissette ironic? Should I be looking things up on Wikipedia and taking them as truth? Is it ethical to buy China that is manufactured in Indonesia? Discuss.
JK, please do not bring the comments section down with an irony discussion. That would be too ironic.
Anychina, during our dating relationship, my ram hunk and I had discussed fond memories of large family gatherings that revolved around food. And that food was served on China. My mom has a set of Christmas China and it gives me the warm and fuzzies when it becomes time to dust it off and serve heaps of turkey and cranberry dressing on it.
I have done an admittedly halfhearted job at searching for China patterns that I like. I was pretty sure I wanted some, but in all my “crazy girl” wedding phases, I never actually picked out a pattern before. Basically, I clicked through each of the patterns that Macy’s carries and sent Lambers an email with my top three.

Longing for that bridal glow? Only have $5 to spend?
Me, too! And now I’m luxuriating in my own golden glow. Here’s the scoop:
A few weeks ago, my MOH and I were discussing the perils and wonders of body moisturizers. The most perilous? Baby Oil. We agreed that it’s a brilliant product idea, but we both have allergic reactions to it. And the most wonderful? That has to be the Olay In-Shower Body Lotion.
Before our conversation, I had a bottle of this wonder-product sitting in my toiletry cabinet. I bought it out of curiosity but was afraid of an allergic reaction, so I avoided using it for months. During our chat, my MOH told me how she used hers, had no adverse reaction, and even discovered a (totally unadvertised) bonus: A subtle, sparkly glow!

Olay!

At the tail end of summer two years ago, I met Mr. French Fries, the man who will become my husband. It was on a crowded patio around raucous bar patrons that he made me laugh for almost 3 solid hours, which led me to consider maybe going on a date with him. (Even if I did end up breaking that first date. True story!) If someone would have told me that I was going to meet my future husband that night, I wouldn’t have believed them, not in a million years. But, here we are — face to face — a couple of silver spoons… (name that TV show!). Anyway, point being: he truly is an inspiration to me and I’m so blessed to have him in my life.

We said our vows, kissed, and walked back down the aisle in our last installment. It was then time for us to act all married and kissy-kissy face. I wont lie, I think my hubby is super hot and I still make googly-eyes at him when we hang out. How lame is it that one of my all-time favorite sounds is the garage door opening at our house letting me know that he’s home? I love him so much that I don’t even mind his snoring, which is sayin’ a lot, ’cause if I’m sharing a hotel room with someone who is sawing logs all night I want to hit them with their pillow until they shut up. I have no desire to do that to him. I love him.
Once we got to our reception venue, The Cohens took the bridal party out to the golf course for some fancy pictures. The ones from the church are boring traditional, so I’ll just skip right on over those if that’s okay with everyone.

I’m thrilled to welcome so many dynamic new bees into the hive! Meet Miss Rainbow, coming to us from sunny Florida. Join me in giving her a colorful welcome!

Card boxes were never one of those fun, crafty details that I daydreamed about. Let’s be frank here, people. It could have just been a big box. But that wouldn’t have been ambitious (read: crazy) enough for Miss Star. No, no, no…
My wonderful DOC, Danielle, asked me a couple of weeks ago what I had planned for a card box. Nothing, was my initial answer. She offered to carry them around for us all night, buuuut that just didn’t seem fair. So if I was going to put effort into another crafty detail, it was gonna be something awesome.
I wanted to make a non-box-shaped box out of paper mache and I wanted it to go along with our already-established wedding theme (uh, polka dots, showbiz, and NYC?). I thought about trying to make drama masks — too hard. I thought about a taxi cab — also too hard. Fairy Bridesmaid suggested the Empire State Building — I was sold. We live two blocks from the ESB and have an incredible view of it from our rooftop, plus, it was a pretty easy shape to create.
First, I took some leftover moving boxes and chopped them up into the appropriate sizes so that they could be duct taped together.

Meanwhile, the guys were getting ready down the road. I know they were contemplating the meaning of marriage and the seriousness of the day…
… I mean, getting their mother to iron their clothes…

Hi Hive! You’ll notice our newest Relationship Series is posted under the Beehive icon. We feel like this isn’t the most appropriate icon for when we run series like these, but we don’t have an icon for any of our series like A Bee’s Life or our recent Budget Series. So, we need your help with brainstorming! What should our feature icon look like?
When I think of features, I think of the movies. Perhaps a little bee running an old time movie projector? Or, perhaps a little bee on a pedestal with a microphone would be cute. The possibilities are endless!
Let us know what you think our new feature icon should look like, and we’ll compile your ideas and ask our talented artist Irene to create one for us!
I often ask my students to experiment with different methods of prewriting: outlines, sure, but also word maps, lists, stream-of-consciousness. The latter is how I get started on an essay, how I find inspiration. To tell you the truth, I tried to create an inspiration board and it looked a hot mess. I’ll stick to viewing them on Snippet and Ink. Maybe it’s because I’m a words person? I can’t paint/Photoshop/Polyvore an adequate picture of what I hope our wedding will look like, but I can blurt it out in a jumble of words.
Sand between my toes; booty-shaking iPod mixes; day-long dance party; shoulder-shaking laughter; Del’s lemonade; margherita pizza; a twirly dress; a white-washed beach house, a deck, a dock; a hint of sunshine; the salt of the ocean; zooming scooters; flip-flops; gelato; karaoke. Laughing laughing laugh. Inappropriate jokes at inappropriate times. Our “first look” somewhere on a windy beach and how we’ll shake our heads in disbelief that after seven years, this is all happening.
Close your eyes for a moment. Imagine your wedding day. What words come to mind?
Remember this inspiration bouquet?

That is Mrs. Lovebug’s actual bouquet and it was also part of my inspiration board. Keeping with my modern yet vintage theme, I thought it would look great with my flowers, too! So I’ve been scouring the usual places one might acquire typewriter letters––eBay and the flea market. Well, sometime last week I bid yet again on eBay, and this time I hoped I would actually win but stay within my budget.

After we left the church, we stayed outside with all of our family and friends leaving the church to thank them. The photographer caught quite a few of these, but here are the most notable thoughts that I had going in my head during those Kodak moments.
Dearest Mizz K,
Thank you for allowing me to be a party pooper at 2AM in NOLA. I know you gals could have lasted longer, but, check it out, I have no under-eye circles due to a serious lack of sleep. I also thank you for being SO helpful that morning of the wedding. My head was in Dreamland, so I needed a dose of reality.

Be sure to check out all the posts in our Relationship Series here!

What is the defining personality trait you thought your future spouse would possess? Does your actual spouse/fiance possess it?
Mrs. Mouse - I always thought I would marry someone who shared my love for literature. In the 5 and 1/2 years I’ve known the Dude, he has read maybe one book cover to cover. He’s more of an engineer/science type, while I’m liberal arts all the way. The good thing is, we always have a lot of things to explain to each other!
Mrs. Peep Toe - Honestly, I have no idea who I thought I’d marry. Maybe someone athletic who loves the ocean. Instead I got a self proclaimed geek, who grew up in the desert and loves movies and music. That said, Mr. Peep thought he’d marry someone much more artsy and creative. Needless to say, Mr. Peep hates all my music and only goes into the ocean under protest. Again, I think our differences are what make us a much more interesting couple.
