Mrs. Parfait, ChicagoAge and Occupation: 26, TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Senior Online ConsultantEngagement Date: February 14, 2009Wedding Date: April 2010Venue: Signature EventsAbout Me: I have a soft spot for all things sweet and romantic. Desserts, love songs, sappy movies? Yes, yes, and ohh yes. My fiance and I enjoy singing to our dogs, creating crazy ice cream sundaes, and generally being lovey dovey cuddle bunnies. We also do socially acceptable things like dancing, throwing Frisbees, playing high stakes board games, and taking unreasonably fun road-trips. We're planning a Korean/Serbian wedding with plenty of playful, personal touches!
Spring is a wishy-washy month, especially in Chicago. For example:
I’ve always had Spring Breaks from school in late March. The trouble with having Spring Break in late March is that it feels eerily like Winter Break, Part Two. Brrr.
My birthday is in May. I remember many hot, sunny birthdays in years past. I also remember times when it snowed on my birthday!
At the end of the last school year, people were still wearing coats to school. My students and I spent the last week shivering and sitting cross-legged to warm up our frozen toes. Thanks, month of June!
When our April wedding rolls around next year, I’d love to give favors or gifts that would help our guests stay warm and cozy! I think the following pictures captured the most considerate and useful favors I have seen:
Mrs. Beagle, AustinAge and Occupation: 26, Electrical EngineerFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, FinanceEngagement Date: July 12, 2008Wedding Date: October 2009Venue: Church Ceremony/Reception at The Waterford HouseAbout Me: I am a true, but rare, Austinite---I was born, raised, and continue to live in this great city! Although
I am an engineer by day, I feed my inner creative side through crafting, sewing, and obsessing over Martha Stewart. I love coffee, my mister, NPR, and exploring all the nooks and crannies of Austin.
I can't wait to share my adventures in DIY and wedding planning with all of you!
I think my biggest fear about our wedding is that no one will dance at the reception, and that it will be boring and our guests won’t have fun. I worry that our families and friends won’t mix and mingle. I think it all boils down to our playlist, which we have yet to get started on because, really, we don’t know where to start!
I’ve got the dinner music down and, though I haven’t blogged about it yet, our cocktail hour is covered. The only thing left is the “dance” music. Here’s the problem: My family listens to primarily to country/western. His family listens to Tejano & Oldies. We listen to NPR (and KUT, if you’re in Austin… but for the most part they play mellow music). We don’t go dancing, we’re not taking lessons, and more than likely our first dance (which is still undecided) will consist of the 6th grade sway a la the Candy Corns (although I doubt we will be able to pull off their awesomeness).
Mrs. Star, New York CityAge and Occupation: 22, ActressFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Casting AssistantWedding Date: October 2009Venue: Ceremony: The Kraine Theatre, Reception: Midtown Loft & TerraceAbout Me: I’m a professional actress who’s always had New York City in her blood and I'm finally getting the chance to make a home in Manhattan with my fiancé, my dog, and my big dreams! I love polka dots, craft projects, Dunkin’ Donuts’ iced coffee, and anything sparkly. I’m having a blast planning our elegant/dramatic/New York City/acting-themed/largely-DIY wedding and am thrilled to be the youngest current Miss Blogger!
You may or may not remember one of my very first posts way back when about my little sister (the flower girl) and my littlest sister (the honorary flower girl).
I just thought I’d give you an update on how my little ladies’ looks are progressing! We took them to the tailor earlier this week to get their dresses altered to fit them perfectly.
My little sister looks gorgeous and loves her “Belle” dress, although you can’t tell from this picture:
She was very upset when she found out we had to leave the dress there to get worked on! I feel the same way about my dress, babe!
Mrs. Dachshund, Fresno, CAAge and Occupation: 24, Legal Office AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Computer TechnicianEngagement Date: April 18, 2009Wedding Date: May 2010Venue: Victorian Gardens of Two SistersAbout Me: I’m a 24-year-old Californian bride-to-be who found love in the most unlikely of places - an online video game! I’m a farmer’s daughter living in rural Central California, but will always have a special place in my heart for the city. My future husband is a 27-year-old extraordinarily tall, exceptionally cute, and undoubtedly Canadian boy who was able to sweep me off my feet and take me for his bride. I love color, folksy songs that make me smile, interior design, kettle corn, my one-year-old puppy, Juno, and my fiance, of course! We’re planning a DIY garden wedding with a laundry-list of projects, all while dealing with the bureaucracy that is American Immigration!
A few weeks ago, reader Mrsv2bee posted a link to her photographer’s blog on the boards, which led to absolutely gorgeous pictures of her wedding. Though they were all amazing, one photo of her hubby and his perfectly styled groomsmen caught my eye:
Don’t they all look so handsome and modern in their light-colored suits and mismatched sneakers?
I’ve known all along that I don’t want our guys to wear traditional tuxes. I’ve always pictured light gray suits, stylish ties and classic Vans or Converse. Fortunately, Mr. Dachshund is on board with this vision. Read more…
Mrs. Ramen, PhoenixAge and Occupation: 26, Optometry StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Industrial DesignerEngagement Date: January 3, 2009Wedding Date: December 19, 2009Venue: Phoenix Art MuseumAbout Me: I'm an SF-born, Seattle-raised girl, transplanted to Phoenix where I'll be getting married, and planning all the way from Orange County where I go to school (yes, it feels as crazy as it sounds). I loooooove Yogurtland, am slightly very obsessed with all things paper, am heavily addicted to wedding blogs, deeply desire a puppy, thoroughly enjoy cooking, cry when I watch (almost all) movies, thrive on solo car-karaoke, can't stop being sarcastic, am neurotic about taking pictures of almost everything I eat before I eat it, and aspire to travel the world. My super-talented fiance and I are attempting to DIY a majority of our massive (~350 guests) "clean & modern, yet romantic, but completely unexpected, with a teeny dash of vintage" wedding, stay within our not-so-massive budget, and somehow get a really luxe (but still fun!) look/feel at the same time. In music terms (since we're both really into music) think Coldplay meets Motown meets Kanye meets Sinatra.
Mrs. Bruschetta, PhiladelphiaAge and Occupation: 25, Communication ProfessionalFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Physical Therapy Graduate StudentEngagement Date: November 30, 2007Wedding Date: August 2009Venue: St. Thomas of Villanova Church & the F.U.E.L. HouseAbout Me: I’m a self-proclaimed grammar geek who loves singing (like, really belting it) in the car. My mister and I are planning a vibrant summer soiree celebrating our passions – including food and Philly – and when we make it official, we’ll have been together for eight years! Being super competitive is in my nature, and talking excessively is in my genes. I’ve got a terrible sense of direction, but can always easily find my way into Mr. Bruschetta’s arms.
Our month-a-versary was earlier this week — love you, Mr. Bruschetta! — and my husband and I “celebrated” by vegging in front of the television. And the next night? Well, we relaxed and enjoyed some quality tube time together. (We’re just gleeful about the new show we recently added to our rotation.) Tonight? Yup, a bit more TV watchin’.
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, DallasAge and Occupation: 28, Special Projects CoordinatorFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity TraderEngagement Date: March 19, 2009Wedding Date: April 2010Venue: Marie Gabrielle, DallasAbout Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
It’s plagued me for as long as I can remember, and I hate it! Nothing is worse to me than feeling that rush of blood to my face, only to realize that my emotions (nervousness, anxiety, etc.) are on display for everyone to see. I’ve read all the things on the internet about how to stop blushing. Yeah, they don’t work for me. I am a major blusher, remember? Not one of those “add some color to your cheeks” cute blushers. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to roll with it… sort of.
Nancy @ Nancy Liu Chin Designs, San FranciscoVendor: FloristWebsite: Nancy Liu Chin DesignsAbout Me: A San Francisco native, Nancy graduated from the University of California - Berkeley's Haas Business School where she studied finance and marketing. Beyond running her floral studio, Nancy is a huge fan of Top Chef, loves to travel to exotic locations, is an avid reader of contemporary fiction and considers herself on Team Edward (Twilight fan!), entertains friends in her loft style home in San Francisco's SOMA neighborhood, and can be found at SF Giant's home games. Nancy and her husband, Kevin are a dynamic pair and can be frequently seen walking their white Bichon Frisee, Chin Chin around the city and lounging at cafes sipping Italian sodas.
I follow your blog and just admire your work so much. I have a question for you regarding hydrangea. I love love this flower but ran into quite a few incidences where it drooped on me if left out of water. I see them in magazines all the time where brides hold a beautiful white hydrangea or even mixed with hydrangea or hydrangea pomander, and wonder how long does that bouquet last?
Ms. Potato Chips, Boston/Narragansett RIAge and Occupation: 29, PhD StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Personal Trainer/Business Owner/Physical Therapy AssistantEngagement Date: January 1, 2009Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: The Narragansett TowersAbout Me: A semi-professional bookworm, if I could be a literary character I’d be a cross between Jo March and Jane Eyre, only better accessorized and much lazier. My hobbies include sleeping in, seasonal brews, running, Trader Joe’s, and watching Unwrapped and Good Eats with Mr. Potato Chips. I harbor an irrational fear of tulle, crafts, things that are fussy, and overuse of the phrase "Your Special Day". After a year or seven together, down the aisle we go, slouching toward adulthood and planning a Rhodie party with equal parts whimsy, cheer, and pizza.
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a 20-something woman in possession of a good fiancé, must be in want of a wedding website that will tell her what the heck she is supposed to do next. So began my grand romance with Weddingbee, which I stumbled upon shortly after our engagement and quickly determined was the least scary of wedding websites. And wow, hi—here I am! I am still in a state of shocked joy, and I am so very honored to be blogging with you all!
When I first began wedding planning I was clueless and overwhelmed. Now, nine months later, I am… still clueless and overwhelmed. But also excited, and ready, and thrilled to be doing this with the best partner in the world.
About us: Mr. Potato Chips (who hereafter will be referenced to as Mr. Potato Head) and I have been together for almost seven years, for most of our twenties, in fact! Now seems to be the perfect time to make it official, while we’re at that age between beer pong and Pottery Barn (does Pottery Barn make beer pong tables??). Embarrassingly bad at DIY, we’re pretty darn good at laughing at ourselves, a trait that may come in handy when trying to plan an event for 130 of our friends and family. Read more…
Mrs. Avocado, SeattleAge and Occupation: 23, StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, ConsultantEngagement Date: July 27, 2008Wedding Date: October, 2008Blogging Since: June 30, 2008Venue: LDS Seattle Temple & Hotel 1000About Me: Somehow this little farm girl found herself a genuine Pole to fall in love and eventually move away to Poland with. I am an LDS bride attempting to plan a private religious ceremony, ring ceremony, seated reception for 100, and an open house while coordinating for guests flying in from across the United States and as far away as Poland. I try to avoid fads, excess waste, and saturated fat. I strongly endorse photography, DDR, calorie counting, rss feeds, cooking, and utilizing your resources.
Want to spend a few minutes with your beloved before the ceremony breathing in each others’ excitement, but do you also want the first time he sees you to be the moment you walk down the aisle?
Consider doing what this couple did and use blindfolds! I don’t know this couple, so this might not be the situation I think it is, but doesn’t it look like they decided to spend some time together before the ceremony without actually seeing each other?
Mrs. Lamb, NorfolkAge and Occupation: 25, Homeland Security ConsultantFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Graduate StudentEngagement Date: January 2009Wedding Date: January 2010Venue: Trinity Presbyterian Church/Harrison Opera HouseAbout Me: I’m a Homeland Security Consultant with a tendency towards pulling office pranks, taking lunch breaks, and drinking Wawa shakes. I’m also an English major with a serious obsession with alliteration and rhymes. While I’m not keeping America safe, I’m training for half marathons and the Escape from Alcatraz swim. Or moving for the third time this year. Or baking. Or wedding crafting. Or crying about wedding planning. All the while, I’m getting myself into Lucille Ball-esque scrapes and making Jim Carey-esque faces. Our big fat Czech/Baptist/Jewish/Italian wedding is a combination of vintage eclectic, DIY, and little spoonful of sugar from our Event Coordinator. It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!
Though I firmly believe that God is present everywhere, and I was quite happy with my thoughts on a small intimate wedding ceremony on the beach, planning our ceremony at our church has quickly becomes one of my favorite aspects of our wedding.
I am one of those poor pathetic girls who has visited churches since I started dating my Ramma-Lamma, and would think to myself, ‘This would be a lovely backdrop for wedding pictures.’ Hello! This is a house of the Lord! Not a prop for my wedding!
I’m glad to say that this church means a lot more to me than my previous shallow thoughts. This church is the church that Mr. L and I first visited together. This church is the church that we decided to go to together. This church is the church where we became members together, had our pre-engagement counseling done, have served in the nursery, and have prepared food for the congregation. This church is full of the “my people” that Ruth talks about in her pledge: “Your people will be my people, and your God, my God.” Read more…

I have so many ideas for our wedding. Many of them are outlandish. I don’t care.
I mentioned Mr. Parfait’s and my ideas for our wedding, but they were pretty accommodating to our families, friends, and, well, reality. If we wanted to go completely nutso crazy, fly everyone from place to place, and purchase apparently fictitious clothing; I would have all of this:
Ceremony on a beach with all 200+ guests. The softest white sand beneath our feet, delicate strands of tropical flowers hanging from the trees, his eyes as blue as the rolling waves.
Reception at Disney World! Dinner and dancing in the castle; Mr. Parfait and I leading a boisterous parade; and all our loved ones together on a carousel! In lieu of cake, we’d eat Mickey Mouse-shaped ice cream bars… I love those chocolate-y ears!
Post-party bonfire. Preferably on a beach or in someone’s huge backyard. We’d have a table with a glorious display of marshmallows, graham crackers, and a million types of chocolate bars. I’d make s’mores all night long for everyone.
I would wear this one white dress that I’ve always wanted, searched for, and compared all other dresses to… since I was 13 years old:

Mrs. Champagne, DC/Vail/ColoradoAge and Occupation: 26, Eye DoctorFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, AttorneyEngagement Date: March 13, 2006Wedding Date: February 2009Blogging Since: July 30, 2008Venue: Small church ceremony with mountain-view log cabin receptionAbout Me: I'm a small town mountain girl with a city heart. Found my way to the east coast, and Mr. Champagne kept me here so we're planning a wedding from afar in my hometown Vail, Colorado. I'm secretly obsessed with reality TV, Wii games where I can shoot a gun, country music, and Caesar: Dog Whisperer. I also spend time pretending to golf, backseat driving, having one way conversations with our MinPin Maxwell, loving champagne, and wedding perfecting… I mean, planning. I use way too many repeated symbols and letters when I write, and I'll love Mr. Champagne endlessly…
Ever wonder what goes through the mind of the groom the morning of the wedding? I do, and I’m so glad Champ’s friends captured his morning the day of our wedding. While I was running around with my maid of honor, jump starting her car again and again, Champ took a casual stroll through Vail Village.
