Little Freddie stole the attention from the lovebirds in MrsMosses’ engagement pics.

Our guests then went off to tour the temple while Frank went all paparazzi on our arses. We had about a lil’ over an hour to do photos before we had to load into the shuttle to make our way to the “reception”. Not having a wedding par-tay meant that whole hour was dedicated to us. That’s a whole lot of photos, yo.
For being a “small” temple, there was lots of scenery for photos.
We had our green mossy, woodsy area:

The number one alteration The Melinda had to endure was in the bust area. It had to be taken in. Way in. I contemplated Take Outs, built in bras, water bras, etc. I settled for exactly what my momma gave me. Outside of the disheartening pinning up top, the dress fitting was one of the more fun parts of wedding planning for me.
After struggling with DIYs that weren’t going right, our seemingly never ending search for entertainment (more to come on this one!), and figuring out the final guest list, I reveled in putting my gown on. I feel like a bride when I’m wearing her. I feel like it will all be worth it. I look forward to my Lamb Lover’s anticipation of seeing me for the first time. I think about dancing with Ram-Dad in the dress. I think about the dress hanging next to Ewe Mother and Grandmewether’s dresses for the next generation.
That’s the sentimental and calming part of trying on the gown again.
The nitty gritty part of trying on the gown again was in separating the two pieces, fitting the underneath part, and then hemming all of the layers to the correct length.

About Me: I’m just a thirty-something girl who never dreamed of weddings, poofy dresses, or ritzy receptions. I was born and raised in New Hampshire, went to undergrad and grad school at Purdue University in Indiana, had my career take me to Wisconsin, Atlanta, and then finally settled in Seattle. I am a rabid knitter, except recently, wedding projects have replaced my yarn and needles. I’ve been fiercely independent since the age of 2 and 30 years later I think my family and friends had given up on me settling down and getting married.
Ironically, I had to go all the way to Seattle to find a boy from Purdue. We fell in love over Seattle Beers and cooking together. We love Chuck Taylor All Stars, holding hands, clever t-shirts, bacon, KEXP Radio, craft beer, buying local, cooking from scratch, gardening, mastering our new Gocco, and of course, each other. I love NASCAR, he loves Legos. I can talk like a Muppet and he can fit a whole McDonald’s cheeseburger in his mouth. We are a two reception couple, currently planning a brewery inspired bash.

I wanted something simple and cute to hold up all the labels for the desserts at MOH-Ho’s ’Sugar Spice Nice’ themed shower and I came up with the perfect solution:
We exited out of the kitchen into a room of people we loved.

Look at the goofy look on my face! I had that same face in a school picture when I was 7 years old.

On the fifth day of our honeymoon, we arrived in the port of Civitavecchia, which is the port near Rome. We had a full day excursion ahead of us so we grabbed some breakfast and set off with our tour group.
Yeah, I’ve been engaged for nearly 11 months and still can’t remember how to pronounce that “m” word for these:
But I really didn’t care about pronouncing them as long as I could make my own decorative displays using them. And thus, I set to work!
I ordered my manzanita branches (12-13″ tall), plaster of Paris, and river rocks from Save on Crafts. The tin cans were purchased at an A.C. Moore on sale for $2 each! And the votives were from Crate & Barrel for $11.40 for a set of 12.

I’ve probably read thousands of posts on Weddingbee, but one post that always stood out to me was Mrs. Flamingo’s post-wedding post on her inspiration vs. reality.
I think one of the very best things you can do as a bride is choose a color scheme and a feel for your wedding, and then stick to it!!! I really think sticking to my guns made the whole wedding decision making process easier.
BUT did I do it? Did I follow my own inspiration board?
Here’s my original inspiration board that I made over a year ago:
Pic 3 and 6 are from J. Crew. Pic 5 is from Real Simple Weddings. And pic sixteen is from Miette. All other images from Project Wedding.
And here’s my real wedding:

The morning of our wedding I was cool, calm and collected as everyone got primped and pretty in my suite. OK, so on the outside I was calm, but there was immense turmoil, anxiety and excitement on the inside. I was a bit of a nervous wreck as the clock ticked closer to 2:15, when the limo would be arriving to whisk us away to the church.
Once we zipped up the dress, everything became real.
I was so glad that it fit - after our heavenly rehearsal dinner the night before where I’d eaten one too many tacos, it was anyone’s guess at to whether or not this sucker would zip up!

Remember when I played dress up with Mama Duckling’s wedding dress? Well, after trying on her dress I wanted to figure out some way to incorporate the lace into my veil. There was a veil that I loved when I first tried on my dress, but it was a crazy $1000!! That clearly wasn’t in the budget, but I loved the lace edging and thought that maybe we could do the same thing with my mom’s lace.

I hadn’t found a normal veil at a reasonable price yet, and I was nervous about finding someone who could incorporate the lace from my mom’s dress and do it custom for me. I remembered hearing about Candi Merlee’s Crowning Glory Designs and her reasonable prices.

This is our ceremony church:

I’m almost sorry to report that this was another easy decision. Don’t hate me.
Driving around the area looking at potential churches, we quickly spotted this lovely, quaint Baptist church. And by “spotted” I mean we found it locked on a Saturday afternoon, then snuck in through an unlocked basement door and had a good look around. We’re pretty bad-ass, in case you couldn’t tell. We made sure to sign the guest book.

One of my favorite parts of wedding planning is picking outfits for different events.
With our engagement shoot coming up, I browsed my local stores looking for that perfect outfit. I was looking for three things in particular:
1. Slightly dressy
The mans and I decided to go the slightly dressier route for our e-shoot. We’re not going the evening gown and tux route, but think more autumn dress than jeans.
2. Autumn-appropriate
Autumn in NYC can be the most gorgeous weather ever, or it can be a chilly (make that freezing) affair. I needed an outfit that would keep me at least slightly warm while we cavorted around NYC for 2 hours. I soon found out that other than some super cute autumn coats (hello, J.Crew!), most of the dresses in stores were still very light and spring/summery. Boooo.
2. Bold colors, no patterns
When doing my e-shoot outfit research, I learned that patterned outfits can sometimes be a little distracting. I sadly ruled out some cute options like this:

When I had my first stress moment about the wedding (and when I say stress moment, of course I really mean complete and utter major freak out with tears and screaming) my fabulous family stepped up as always. They are pretty awesome like that; Mama Cloud does whatever she can, Daddy Cloud knows how to calm me down, and even Brother Cloud has words of support. Well when he offered to do whatever I needed, I don’t think my dear brother had any clue what he was getting himself into.
Brother Cloud has been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. I can draw a mean stick figure, but it’s pretty obvious where the family talent went to. So when I decided that I HAD TO HAVE cartoon characters of Mr. Cloud and myself for various wedding projects he was my obvious choice; after all, he did offer! Well, after about 700 drafts I finally had a final picture. I’m not even kidding, I was a rough client—I kept saying, “no, change this or that,” and at one point I even made him start over completely in a new style. It’s a good thing we are related, or he would probably not be speaking to me anymore!

10 years from now, I hope that we are ________
Mrs. Bear Cub - Mr Bear Cub actually wrote a poem/letter to me after 5 months of dating that described how he saw our lives in 10 years. It’s a little long, so I’ll only give a shortened version:
I cant imagine a happier thought
than holding you close to me
in the setting sun of a hazy alpine peak ten years from today
reflecting on the path our lives have taken
Ten years of getting to know each other
Ten years of finding out that you are even more amazing than I could have imagined
Ten years of waking up in your arms
Ten years of holding you in mine
…
Ten years of striving each day to let you know how much you mean to me
But a million years worth of love having passed between us
He read parts of it to me on our wedding day, and it was one of the most emotional moments of the day.
In 10 years, I hope to revisit our wedding venue, Camp Westwind, with our children and savor all the joys life has brought us.
