About Mrs. Labrador

Because our wedding is only a week after my favorite holiday, we decided to incorporate some “spooky” Halloween fun into it.

We’re starting off by having a ghost tour after the rehearsal dinner for any interested guests. We secured a group rate with Old Town Trolley Tours to go on their “Ghosts and Gravestones Frightseeing Tour”. The tour is about an hour and a half long and is (according to their website) “an evening of fun, scares, humor and ghost stories as you are guided through America’s Most Haunted City.”

But the fun doesn’t stop there! For the wedding day, we’ve let our guests know that we are “Thrilling the Reception”! I linked up the website “Thrill the World” to the guest update page of our wedding website so our guests can learn the ever popular Thriller dance. So far, we have most of the wedding party and a few of the guests committed to reenacting the dance in its entirety on the dance floor! I’m especially proud of Mr. Lab for taking an interest in rehearsing it and surprised at how quick of a learner he is (especially for someone who claims he can’t dance!).

Photo from our personal wedding website!

I can’t wait to see how our practice pays off. But even if we don’t perfect the dance in time, we’ll do as the instructor says and play it off by acting like a ghoul for a few dance counts. No harm, no foul. :)

By the way, I figured I’d share a photo of Mr. Lab’s and my costumes! Special thanks to the hive for helping me decide on an costume!

Mr. Lab was a nerd and I was his mail-order bride! Pay close attention to his name and address on the shipping label. ;) And nevermind our friend “Heidi” in the back. It’s just one of our wedding guests who flew all the way in from Germany! LOL :D

If your wedding is close to a holiday, are you incorporating it somehow?

Fun! I went to a wedding on Halloween. I was worried it would be silly, but it had just the right mix of just being a nice fall wedding with a little Halloween thrown in. The centerpieces were hollowed out pumpkins with pretty flowers in them. Then they had trick-or-treat candy around and a dessert buffet with spooky treats. They also invited the kids to wear costumes to the ceremony. That ended up being really cute.

Lab, I confess, I totally stole your costume idea! Sadly, yours is much better than mine bc although I did wear an entire brown box as my “mail”, underneath it I had my Yankees t-shirt (HOLLER!) and jeans, whereas your little white get-up was super cute and so bridal! I did rock a veil tho, which was ironic since I’m not wearing one for the wedding!
PS LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVE the thriller dance idea!!!!

Also love your costume! I’m thinking I’ll steal that for next year!

Love your costumes and the ways you are incorporating Halloween into your big day!

My wedding is the Saturday before Christmas so the church will already be decorated. We have a few small things tied in, like our pics will probably be in front of Christmas trees, and we have ornaments to mark table numbers and show people which table is theirs. We’ve got other winter stuff too though, like snowflakes on a few things…just bits like that.

OMG Thriller dance!!! We wanted to do it but our wedding party wasn’t that into it, and a change of venue meant no dance floor.

Mail order bride! LOL that’s hilarious! Sizzling hot costume though ;)

@Adriana26: We randomly picked a place in Africa for me to be “from”. But the ship “TO” address is Georgia Tech’s stadium address. Just poking fun at the Techies!
