Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
About Mrs. Poodle

The Flight Into Mr. Poodle’s Arms

November 2nd, 2009 @ 8:22 am by Mrs. Poodle

I am not going to lie, this trip was not the easiest one I’ve taken. There were so many emotions blended together. But unlike any other, I was so calm and relaxed (I think I used my stress and anxiety quote of the month the last two weeks… hehe).

Saying goodbye to my family was not easy either, but the fact that my mom said, “We’ll see you before the wedding” made it easier for me. smile029 But I was still a little worried about how Curly was going to take the flight. I did train him for the last two months so that the 15 hours in his travel cage wouldn’t be such a shocking experience, but there’s no way I could fake the turbulence and altitude.

Once we landed in LAX, the stress began. First, because I was really scared about all the stories I’ve read about how sometimes at immigration, they give an extra hard time to people that come on K1 visas, but I guess those were just isolated situations because I actually got treated very nicely. After they checked my papers, they asked me how Mr. Poodle and I met, we chatted for a little bit, and I was officially welcomed to the United States… YAY!!! smile029 They reminded me that we should “be legal” within 3 months.

I started the (really long) wait for my bags, and later had to hunt for them. I was surprised that I didn’t have any bigger problems getting them, since each time I’ve come to California, one of my bags has been lost or delayed. I didn’t have problems with the bags, but once I tried to talk to people to find out where I had to go to pick Curly up, the problems started!!

First, they were not sure where I was supposed to pick him up. My smile faded away and I started to change into my “Bridezilla-with-a-lost-baby-dog-mood”. I think I talked with not only my airline, but anyone I could, even from other airlines, to try to figure out where my dog was. Almost an hour and a half later, the guy came with Curly. He was in his carrier enjoying the ride, smile029 and I could breathe again!!

So after almost two and a half hours, I was allowed to go outside the terminal. I could hardly walk pushing 3 suitcases and Curly’s carrier, and to my surprise I couldn’t find Mr. Poodle anywhere. I managed to push everything to a corner and looked around to try to find a pay phone, because I was starting to worry. 15 minutes later there was still no Mr. Poodle, and my eyes started to water as I was scared/nervous and I could not move to find a damn phone because Curly would start crying so loudly!

Finally I heard someone say, “that’s a really cool carrier!” I turned around, and there he was!  I was so pissed about the whole I-lost-my-Dog-thing, plus the nervous 20 minutes it took for me to find Mr. Poodle. My eyes started watering the moment I saw him, and it was magical! I got the best hug, EVER!!

So after we hugged for looong time, he got down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him. smile029 OMG! I was shocked. I knew he wanted to re-propose since we “became engaged” over phone. But I was not expecting that at the airport. I didn’t even see all the people around us at that moment, and my heart almost popped out of my chest. It was even better than I could ever have imagined. It took me a little while to respond since he looked so darned cute, so after I savored the moment with a mental picture, I said, “SI!”

(How I wish I had pictures of that to show you!!)

Anyway, we headed home and two hours later we were walking with Curly up the stairs to our new home smile029

I still feel like this is a dream. We are living alone with Curly and we get to say goodnight with a kiss instead of hanging the phone up or signing out of Skype. The Flight Into Mr. Poodle’s Arms : wedding relationships Biggrin03 biggrin03

I’m so so so excited for you!!
I can honestly say, as another girl in a LDR, that it’s been amazing to follow your story, and I was almost in tears for you when you were trying to find a payphone with poor Curly crying in his cage.
So excited for you and the Mr!!!
