Asian Inspiration: Makeup

November 3rd, 2009 @ 6:14 pm by Mrs. Parfait

For the wedding, I’m not exactly branching out in the makeup department. I’ve never tried any bold looks, with the exception of the extreme makeovers my friends and I would give each other as kids. I’m planning to stick with what I know and go for subtlety. For soft, natural makeup ideas, I turned to my favorite Korean actress!

Soft, pink perfection:

Isn’t she gorgeous? I have a total girl-crush on her. I love seeing how Asian girls wear their hair and makeup, even if our faces are totally different. It just helps to see how they make the most of their skin tones and features! I have full lips and full cheeks, like Song Hye-kyo, so I like seeing what works for her. This next look is glow-y and sweet, with just a touch of color on the lips:

And I definitely need some eyelash enhancements. I had glue-on lashes during our engagement photos, but they were completely unnoticeable! That’s my fault for choosing the shortest lash option available. :P I would try something a little bolder but with very little eye makeup, like this:

And for you bolder brides, here are a few of Song Hye-kyo’s more daring makeup looks!

Heehee, I just showed these to Mr. Parfait, and he was like, “What is daring about these?” I guess I’m just a makeup wimp—I think that eyeshadow is really daring! Lipstick, too! They are the unused mysteries of my makeup bag.

Who do you look to for makeup inspiration?

It’s soooo hard to find Asian makeup inspiration! Thanks for these great ones!
The toughest part is the fact that most makeup artists are OBSESSED with making me have “double eyelids”…. so I walk away looking like a geisha or something. Sighhhhh.

loooove these pictures though!

Miss Parfait - thanks for this post! I haven’t even thought about looking at inspiration pics like these, but the ones you posted are a good jumping off point for me! My fave is the red lipstick, second from the bottom.

Miss Ramen - oh nooo. That’s horrible. :(

I love the soft look too, the darker red lipstick is def daring! I actually dont wear any makeup except for eyeliner…no lipstick, no eye shadow, no blush or foundation, nada! So for the wedding Im just going to do a soft look with the eyes and lips too! Great inspiration photos. :)

Beautiful Inspiration!!! I am a bit afraid of makeup too. Everyone kept telling me that you need to wear a little more makeup to photograph well, which made me nervous! I did lay on the lipstick extra, and it did turn out really well- in person and in film!

Those are beautiful! I’m actually going to save a few of those for my own use. :p Even though I’m not Asian, I have Asian eyes. (Combination of lots of Native American blood [the groups via Russia] and Eastern European has spawned these eyes for me). I have the almond eyes and the (essentially) no-fold business, so these photos are hella helpful.

Wow, she is beautiful! I like your inspiration. Maybe you should go for a LITTLE something crazy on your wedding day–either eyes or lips. At least try it out first?

@Mrs. Taffy: I’m glad to know it worked out for you! I’m always wiping off the blush and lipstick after a makeover…I will resist on the wedding day!

@Miss Slice & @go2bee: Thank you! What a compliment. : )

@pinaybride: Omgosh, that is my favorite show ever!

Love it! Are you going to have a trial session with a makeup artist or are you doing the makeup yourself? I agree with mouse and think you should play with some of the bolder looks just to see how you like them!
