Mrs. Frozen Yogurt's Picture
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
About Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Out of Town Guests

November 3rd, 2009 @ 3:29 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So I totally ”borrowed” this idea from Cowboy Boot and Apple Cider. Their little bags were just too adorable, I wanted some of my very own. Plus, I don’t own a Gocco, and I certainly don’t know how to print on bags, so this out of town guest bag was born.

During this wedding planning process I’ve learned that stamps are my best friends. I don’t own a printer, and I don’t know how to design or craft really, but I can stamp with the best of them. My latest project turned out like this:

And a little close up:

I bought the stamps from Impress Rubber Stamps and they came with a sweet, handwritten note. I bought 50 8 x 10 muslin bags, and am not going to use all of those for the out of town bags, but you’ll have to wait and see what I use the other ones for. :)

I’ve only made a couple since we still have about 6 months (OK, a little more than 5 months) until the wedding. But I love how they are turning out. Now I need to finalize all the yummy items we plan to include.

What are some items you’ve received in an out of town bag that you loved?

They came out great! I always enjoy the snacks in out of town bags - they’re always the first things to go!

You are going to make me a stamping fool! I love that idea since I’m not so much of a crafter either.

They’re adorable! I’m also glad to hear that there’s another Gocco-less bride out there. Makes me feel less alone! :)

Oh, cute! I suck at stamps, but you’ve done a great job! Did you use two different colors of ink?

They look great! I love a fun OOT bag. I’m definitely going to do something like this for ours.

What did you think of the 8X10 size? I know I want to put probably two bottles of water in ours, do you think it would be big enough?

@Mrs. Mouse: Yeah, I think they are better in person. I had a hard time taking a photo of them. Green for the tree and grey for the thank you. Maybe I can get a better picture once I stuff them.
@sarahnyc23: I’d suggest going a size up for 2 water bottles. You’d probably be able to get them in there, but it would be a tight fit and you wouldn’t have room for much else. Unless you did the mini bottles.

So cute :)

I think that local candy or a local treat is always a nice addition to an OOT bag!

i think im going to cave in and do OOT bags, im 3 weeks away from our wedding, and was not planning on it, but since our wedding is technically OOT I think it will be a nice treat for our guests for their travels.

we don’t have a hobby lobby in California, does anyone know if these muslin bags are at Michaels or Joanns?

no time for shipping.

@beaninca: I got my bags in seriously like 2 days. And I think they came from California. So I wouldn’t rule them out even though your wedding is 3 weeks away. Hope that helps!

These are fun! We did a canvas bag like Mrs Mascara. I used a cute love bird stamp and voila - the easiest project!
I put a combo of these items: all had a welcome letter with thanks and itinerary, 2 waters and 2 jones sodas (8 oz cans). Then the rest had a mix of pretzels, animal crackers, cheese puffs, lolly pops, trail mix, natural fruit roll ups.

Now that I look back - I’d would have liked to put in sunscreen packets and Tylenol packets! Look here for fun mini size items: http://www.minimus.biz/ sometimes they have the best sale items! Keep a look out!

Wow! I love these! I try to be crafty but not so much. What about local stuff for Texas? Are you having a lot of OOT guests? I know a lot of my friends have done Dublin Dr. Pepper small bottles. What about some other “local flavor” stuff. Or things that have a meaning to you? Your favorite snack (well, frozen yogurt probably wouldn’t work very well!) Maybe flavored popcorn or Jelly Bellies in your colors? Maybe making a “spritzer” of some scented water to freshen up with? Also Whole Foods uses the EO lavender sanitizing hand wipes at the entrance for shopping carts but I just discovered them individually packaged online. Maybe you could drop one of those in, too?
