Asian Inspiration: Hairstyles

November 4th, 2009 @ 2:04 pm by Mrs. Parfait

Now that I have some ideas for my wedding day makeup, it’s time to move on to the hair! Here’s what I have to work with:

Asian Inspiration: Hairstyles : wedding hair 12 parfait

A little dry. Random bumps. Wispy hairs around my face.

That’s how it looks after a wash-n-go. It takes well to a blow dryer and curling iron—both of which erase the bumps and make it shinier.

I would love to curl my hair and wear it down, but I know that it’ll start getting piece-y and straight after a few hours. My hair is too messy in front to pull off a sleek updo, so I think my best options are:

1. A low updo, modeled by Song Hye-kyo! I love how it’s a little loose in front, because mine would not stay in a slicked-back bun. I also like how you can see the bun from the front. It feels more feminine to me than having all the hair hiding in back.

2. A half updo, as shown on Hyori Lee. With this, I’ll get that letting-my-hair-down feeling without the hair-in-my-face worries. My bangs have grown out, and I’ve been debating whether or not I should leave them alone. I think I’ll get them cut again—not as fierce as Hyori’s, but just enough to leave some down to frame my face.

3. Throw caution to the wind, and wear my hair down! This look is modeled by the adorable Vanessa Hudgens. My amazingly kind MOH has styled my hair this way for a few occasions. I usually manage to make it all fuzzy by the end of a night, so I would definitely want to do a trial run with my hairstylist.

Choices, choices, what should I choose? Would you recommend a low updo, half-up, or all down?

From the inspiration you posted, I like the low-do and the all down. Although the low-do is my fav. :) I’m usually ALL for the half up/half down, but from those photos I like the other two better.

having an updo is definitely more bridal than the down’s which are more bridesmaids-y. i vote the first one too .. but just keep in mind that the first one is a side bun … something like what Mrs.Bee had for her modern bride award dinner.

I have the same problem if I leave my hair down for extended periods of time. It gets stringy and flat, and curl tends not to hold very well. But…I do love half-up, half-down or all-down hairdos. They’re so beautiful! I like the last one best. :)

I have the same kind of hair, so my vote would go for the first one. i may bookmark this too since her ears are covered and I was hoping to do the same.

I LOVE that low updo! It’ll be nice once your dancing, since you’ll prob get hot right on your neck if you leave your hair down..

Loose updo, but they’re all so romantic! I wish my hair could stay like that for more than 2 minutes!

Based on your hairstyle and the fact that you said it goes straight in 2 minutes, I’d go with the updo. It’ll stay in place better, you won’t be worried about it, and it’ll still be super cute!

I vote for the updo. I love how romantic it is. I thought about doing my hair down and curly, but I was afraid it would bother me/get frizzy.
