Miss Snow's Picture
Miss Snow, Madison, WI/Asheville, NC Age and Occupation: 28, PhD student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Graphic Designer Engagement Date: August 5, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: Claxton Farm About Me: I am true Southern gal displaced in the beautiful and blustery midwest. A true theatre geek at heart, I love any kind of performance and spend most of my time researching old productions in dank library archives. When not in the library, I love music (punk rock, bluegrass, and everything in between), design in all forms, any reality TV show on Bravo (especially those that feature housewives or sharp knives), beer and wine from Oregon, and exploring the outdoors. My fiance and I are true best friends, and he inspires me every day. After a long and happy dating relationship, we’ve decided to tie the knot in the mountains of North Carolina, our home state. We’re planning a long-distance, largely-DIY, eco-conscious hip farm affair that celebrates family, friends, and love.

DIY Project #2: Paper Pyramids

November 4th, 2009 @ 4:08 pm by Miss Snow

The inspiration (source)

Step 1. Buy entirely too much adorable craft paper.

2. Toil with a bone folder and a pair of scissors. Realize you probably need to invest in new crafting scissors if you’re going to make a million of these things.

3.Delight in actually making something on the first try that looks like you want it to look… roughly.

4. Make a few more.

5. Screwpunch letters into the cone. (See, I knew Martha wouldn’t lead me astray when she beckoned me toward that screwpunch! Clearly, I couldn’t have even attempted this project without it! Suuure.)

6. Punch a hole in the top of your decorative pyramids and string up with twine.

Tada! The beginnings of a three-dimensional wedding garland!

Where are some good places to hang these paper pyramids at a wedding?

These are adorable — I considered doing them, but figured they might look weird in our venue.

Anyway. I think they’re cute as shown in your first pic — hanging from tree branches. They’d be cute strung across the head of your head table/sweetheart table, too.

how did you actually make these? Like how did you fold them and make them stick?

they look great!
what about hanging them sided to the aisle? or maybe hanging on top of your cake table?

Very cute, definitely like them in trees and such. Or if there is a gazebo.

Would love any instructions - I think these might be perfect at our outdoor venue interspersed with twinkle lights! And love the paper…

I love that you’re using these! I’ve had this project saved in my reader for months… I want to throw a party so I can use them :)

@nuatica54: @Stesse: Requests noted! When I make more pyramids this weekend, I’ll develop a more detailed post about the construction of these little guys. You can also find step-by-step instructions @ oncewed.com in the DIY section.

@MexicanGirl: I was thinking cake table (I was spelling out C-A-K-E in the picture), but then thought a really long garland might look good too! Hmm…maybe both?

Those are adorable! I’d love to use something like that for a bridal shower! Our wedding probably won’t be outdoors, so it might look weird but I love them so much!

These would be so cute as an “aisle runner”. Instead of having flowers or ribbon lining the chairs on the inside of your aisle, why not hang these?? How adorable!!
