I was born and raised in New Hampshire, went to undergrad and grad school at Purdue University in Indiana, had my career take me to Wisconsin, Atlanta, and then finally settled in Seattle. I am a rabid knitter, except recently, wedding projects have replaced my yarn and needles. I’ve been fiercely independent since the age of 2 and 30 years later I think my family and friends had given up on me settling down and getting married. Ironically, I had to go all the way to Seattle to find a boy from Purdue. We fell in love over Seattle Beers and cooking together. We love Chuck Taylor All Stars, holding hands, clever t-shirts, bacon, KEXP Radio, craft beer, buying local, cooking from scratch, gardening, mastering our new Gocco, and of course, each other. I love NASCAR, he loves Legos. I can talk like a Muppet and he can fit a whole McDonald’s cheeseburger in his mouth. We are a two reception couple, currently planning a brewery inspired bash.
About Miss Pretzel

Hand that Girl a Hankie

November 4th, 2009 @ 12:21 pm by Miss Pretzel

… perhaps a perfect little silk hankie that says “Will you be my bridesmaid?”

My maids are all over the country—Denver, Seattle, Indiana, Illinois… there aren’t 2 maids in the same city out of the five of them and only one I actually see day to day. I wish I could have asked each of them in person, but I did the next best thing—Isent them a personalized invitation to stand up with me at our wedding.

I love Etsy and have been loving it for a lonnnng time. Call it inspiration central!

  • Need ideas for unique gift for Mr Pretzel? Done!
  • Need to find a hand blown glass sink at a killer deal? Done!
  • Need hard to find crafting supplies like pearlized flower stamen? Done!
  • Need a tutorial for a particular craft? Done!

In my case, it was “Need ideas for bridesmaids invitations?” Done!

I search on “Bridesmaid Invitation”. POOF! There appeared the puuuuurfect gift for my girls.

ArtfulBeginnings posted a set of 4 custom silk handkerchiefs for $27… what, what? $27? I quickly bookmarked this page. Once I had the BM line-up settled, I ordered 5 hankies in our wedding colors (the extra one cost like $6 and some change). Each girl got an invitation in the color she would be wearing in our wedding.

As a side note: I’m a Catholic grrrl- so it’s confession time. I ordered these bad boys before Mr Pretzel even proposed—I was that excited! I was so convinced that he was going to propose on our New England trip (which he did) that I wanted to bring the invitations with us so I could pop them in the mail as soon as we were engaged. Mr Pretzel put his foot down and said I could wait until we got home. Booo!

How perfect are these? The hankies fold up into a little square and slide nicely into a card personalized with the recipients’ names. My MOH’s hankie asks “Will you be my Matron of Honor?” and the other ones ask “Will you be my Bridesmaid?” The envelope wraps are freebies from A Very Chocolate Wedding. Love it!

All in a row….

Sadly, the post office lost one of my invites. I quickly emailed ArtfulBeginnings and purchased a replacement. While I was doing so, I started to browse the other offerings in the shop. Check out these other cute wedding items:

These are really pretty, and a fabulous way to ask your bridesmaids. I’ve been to her Etsy shop, and have been deciding if I want to get hankies as a gift for the moms at the wedding..

I fell in love with her invites like a week after I’d ordered ours. I think they are SO PRETTY. I wanted my FMIL to use them for the RD but that didn’t work out. I will have to throw a big party one day….

I wanted to, but alas! I did not have enough time or preparation. I was too excited and made my phone calls instead.

I made up for it on my bridesmaids gifts I think!

I made little packages with Jacque Torre chocolates in them and bought some pretty cards to go along with it…I wish now that I done something more like what you did but oh well, too late now!

Those fabric invites are really amazing. My parents went to a wedding in Charleston that had some like that and they were gorgeous.
