My Love Affair – With 8mm

November 4th, 2009 @ 6:06 pm by Miss Hamster

My love affair with Super8 began 5 years ago (I know, longer than my relationship with the mans) when I was researching videographers for my sister’s wedding. Just when I thought I couldn’t watch another 5 minute recap of a stranger’s wedding, I came across Wilson Fontaine and immediately fell in love with her work – see for yourself on her site:

Wilson Fontaine

The emotion that comes through in her work is unbelievable. I bookmarked her site on my laptop five years ago – and even though that laptop didn’t survive, my memories of Wilson’s films did. Right after we secured our venue, we met with Wilson. The mans was equally impressed, and we booked her immediately.

Did you find any vendors waaaaay before it was time to start planning?

I found the local, Austin letterpress shop, Vertallee, several months before I even started dating my fiance. I had been looking for interesting art classes to fill my evening (sadly, they have none). As soon as my FH and I started talking marriage prep, I knew I wanted them to print my wedding announcements. I was so happy when my FH agreed with me - this was the first vendor we started negotiating a contract with - and long before we found our other vendors. In the end, I’m thrilled with the resulting announcements!

Man, I love some super 8 too! I don’t even want to let myself watch the video because I know it’s not in my budget so I just need to stay away!

oh wow… I’m speechless! So gorgeous! I’ve done some research on super 8 too (mainly because he’s a cinephile, and I love the vintagey look), and I’m in looove with this guy’s work:

I have been stalking, er, reading, my photographer’s blog for the last four or five years… I KNEW I had to book her, when we finally decided on a date last June! :)

I love super8, too. :sigh: It’s just so beautiful.

I researched photogs way, way before I met Mr. French Fries. It was super important to me, and I’m so excited about our choice!

I love super 8 as well and that was also the vendor that I KNEW I had to have (even before I met my fiance). I had seen lots of videographers (being a wedding planner) but my videographer was the first where I watched it and didn’t know anyone in the video and cried because it was so touching.

For you Texas brides (or destination brides like me looking to have him travel) check out Mason Jar Films (www.masonjarfilms.com). He shoots in super 8, 16mm and hi def. SWOON! I can’t wait for my wedding video..guess I should probably have the wedding first.

I promise he isn’t paying me. He’s just that awesome. :)
