That’s our venue. Our beautiful, beautiful venue. Gone.
At this point, I feel silly being so sad because it is just a venue, but I am sad. Really sad.
Things will be OK. The event company is on top of everything. No one was hurt.
Think about/pray for the brides and grooms who have weddings there in the next few weeks and more importantly, for the firefighter injured fighting the blaze.
We have no current plans of action at this point except waiting. We trust our event planners…

OH. MY. GOSH.
I have no words… this is just horrible! Those poor brides that had a wedding this weekend! Aw, the beautiful property!
I’m SO sorry! ![]()
Oh no… that is terrible. I’ll keep the upcoming brides and grooms in my thoughts, and my fingers crossed that you find another venue that you love.
I am so very sorry that this happened. Thankfully no lives were lost and hopefully that firefighter will recover quickly. My thoughts are with you and everyone else who was impacted by this. Things will work out for the best, they always do. Luckily you still have time to find a new venue.
*hug* So sorry Snow- got to be hard being so far away when this wrench gets thrown in the works. Thank goodness you have time on your side.
::hugs:: i’m so sorry! But don’t worry! Everything will work out fine! Chin up!
HOLY COW!!!!!!! Im so sorry, this will all work out for you! So sad, <>

This is so sad and horrible!!! Thank goodness everyone is ok, hopefully the firefighter will recover soon!
That’s terrible. I’m so sorry! I’m sure you’re right and it will all work out.
I’m so sorry Miss Snow. A friend of mine had his venue destroyed by fire THREE DAYS before his wedding and everything still went off without a hitch so I will keep you and all the other brides and grooms in my thoughts, and of course the firefighter as well.
“Nuh uhhhhh.” That’s what I kept saying to myself as I read that post!. INSANE. Talk about a bride’s worst nightmare (or one of a few). That totally sucks and I am so so sorry!!!
Chin up! Something will work out. ![]()
Oh My! That is such awful news! We visited Claxton Farm when we were selecting a venue and we loved it (we ended up going with a venue in Gatlinburg instead).
I’m sure the planners are all over it though.
I am thankful no one was seriously hurt and hoping for a speedy recovery for the firefighter!
oh my gosh! that is really crappy.
i wish you tons of luck though. please keep us posted on what the planners come up with.
Miss Snow I’m so sorry! that’s awful! I’m so glad no one was hurt ![]()
To read that it was arson is heartbreaking. If people only realized their actions and the effects on others. I am so sorry for you and I’ll keep the firefighter in my prayers.
So sorry! And so glad you have event planners who can sort it out for you. One less piece of stress you need to heap on to the pile, I say.

OMG. That’s awful. Don’t feel silly for feeling sad; it’s terrible.
oh hon, that’s very, very disappointing. things will feel better soon and you will definitely find a place, like you said (good attitude!).
Wow, I am so shocked and sorry to hear about this. Hang in there!
Oh my gosh!! I am so glad that no one was injured. But this is straight out of every bride’s nightmare!
Miss Snow, I’m so very sorry to hear about the loss of your venue. I read a comment to the story and the Sales Manager was discussing a re-build. Please keep us updated on the status of your venue.
Oh my goodness… I can’t believe it! That’s just shocking! You still have time to find something fabulous!
Wow, I’m so sorry! I can’t believe it was arson! I’m sure everything for your wedding will work out, so don’t be too sad!
Ohmy gosh, I can’t believe that someone would do this. Can you imagine if your wedding was Saturday- someone took away someone’s business, someone’s wedding- injured someone- that’s horrible. HUGS!
Miss Snow I’m so sorry to hear about this, I can’t believe it! I’m glad no one was seriously injured (hope the fireman will be fine!), but it makes me so angry to read that they think it’s arson. Keep us posted, I’m sure things will still work out beautifully for you.
So Sorry to hear about that, but I am happy to hear that everyone was ok. I hope the firefighter recovers soon.
Oh…Miss Snow, so very sorry! Will be praying for you that all works out. I am glad to hear that no one was seriously injured though.
oh wow! I’m so sorry, you much be really disappointed. Keep us posted on what you guys can/are going to do!
I am so sorry. There was recently a wedding on style me pretty that was held there–such a lovely place. Good luck with your new venue search.
wow, that’s awful! I’m so sorry. A venue I was really excited about burned down in some of the recent southern california fires, but that was long before we would have booked it, so it just got scratched off my list. I am glad you have people working on another solution and will pray everything works out!
Oh wow. My heart goes out to the owner of the farm and the firefighter that was hurt.
Miss Snow, you have a event planner they will take care of it and you still have time.
The poor bride & grooms that have to scramble last minute now. I hope they have wedding insurance…
i’m so sorry… hope your planner finds a great venue. so sad.
That is so sad! My heart goes out to the injured firefighter and the misplaced brides and grooms.
How did it happen? Do they plan to rebuild asap?

That’s so sad! What about the owners of the venue? I hope they had good insurance.
Oh no, I’m so sorry for you!
It kind of reminds me of Friends when Ross is marrying Emily and they go to their venue and see it being demolished days before their wedding. At least you have more time than them!
Oh, I am sooo sorry! You’ll regroup, it will be ok, but this is so sad for you.
(And BTW the article says it was arson!?)

Hi All,
Thanks for the kind words. As I mentioned, I feel a little out of line being so sad when this affects so affects so many people, including the family who owns the farm and the family business that manages the events held there, not to mention all the people who have celebrated here over the years.
Luckily, the Claxtons and the event management company plan to work together and rebuild.
Here’s a link to the new blog where they plan to document the construction of the new Claxton Farm barn.

I’m so sorry for you, the other brides/grooms, and for the firefighter…my thoughts go out to ALL of you!

crazy crazy crazy, STILL cannot believe that happened!
Wow…. I’m beyond shocked and sorry that this happened. Keep your head up and I will keep you and all you’ve mentioned in my prayers.
Wow. Unbelieveable. Hope the reconstruction will go quickly–if it does, it sounds like it’ll be even more fabulous than before!

Miss Snow, I’m so so sorry! Sending good thoughts your way.
Completely unreal…*hug* So sorry Snow….I think the really unreal part is the indiciation that it was arson. Who would destroy such a beautiful old building like that? I also think it speaks well for the owners/event management company that they are working so quickly to recover and move forward.

I’m so sorry that this happened — but I know that things will work out in the end for you. Sending positive thoughts your way!
Oh no!! Add that to the list of wedding nightmares you never thought could happen to you. I’m sending good thoughts your way for finding a new and equally fabulous venue.
This is totally “one of those things you read about.” What a weird thing to happen!

So very sorry, Snow. I’ll be praying for you, the other Claxton Farm couples and the firefighter.
Wow. I am so sorry! I would feel sad too! I am sure everything will work out though.
Oh my goodness, how horrible. So glad no one was seriously injured.
I’ve been thinking about this all day. Is there anything we can do to help? Have the owners set up a place for donations or anything? It’s so sad that this happened right before the holidays and I just want to know if the generous WB community can help in any way. Let us know
And more ::hugs::
This is awful… glad to hear no one was seriously hurt. Keep your chin up. My venue did not burn, but when they called to “Re-locate or reschedule due to unforeseen circumstances” I was crushed… and pretty ticked. Something wonderful will come along, I’m sure. You have the right perspective though: it’s not cancer, it’s a structure…you will get through this.
Oh my goodness… how terrible!
My heart goes out to the injured firefighters & all the future B&G’s without a venue. ![]()
Oh NO! You poor thing. I’m sure it will all work out in the end.
oh no! i just read about this the other day and it didnt even connect to someone on here in my mind. hope that everything will get straighten out. there are a ton of great locations in asheville.

So sorry to hear about this, Snow. Sounds like you have a great outlook on everything & your head is in the right place! Thank goodness no one was hurt, you are right! Fingers crossed that a new venue appears soon! ![]()
What a nightmare…I hope you find another venue even more beautiful that suits you! Good luck!
So sorry about this! I actually looked to have my wedding there but ended up going with Lake Lanier Tea House in Landrum, SC. Its got kind of a similar vibe and it is on a lake. I’m not sure how big your wedding is but if it is on the small side I would recommend them if you end up having to change your venue! http://www.lakelanierteahouse.com/
OH NO! What a horrible, horrible shock! I’d feel terribly sad too. Good luck moving forward.
Oh. My. Goodness! I’m sorry, Hopefully everything will work out for the best!!
Ohhhh noooo! That is the saddest! Western NC is one of the most beautiful areas ever, and I’ve seen so many lovely weddings and events at this farm documented on blogs. I hope you find a good alternative and that they can rebuild soon!
OH NO!!! That’s terrible, and I’m so sorry that happened, especially for the firefighter’s family. Tragic. Good luck finding a new venue!

Oh man, how terrible! And my heart goes out to all the brides who were supposed to be getting married there in the weeks and months ahead.
::hug::
i’m so sorry to hear this news! i hope the firefighter is okay
Oh my gosh…that is horrible! I just don’t understand what the people who did this were thinking…I mean what did they get out of this??? And don’t feel bad - you have every right to be sad!
That’s so so sad! But imagine what may just await you - it could be more exciting than ever!
Ouch. I hope your event planners find something similar for you. I hope everything goes well for your search!
Oh my goodness! I am so sorry! That is a terrible thing to find out; I hope that everyone was/is ok now!
so sad. I have hope that everything will work out for you.
Oh my gosh that is so awful! I hope everything works out and that the firefighter recovers.
Oh my God, that’s so horrible. I’m glad no one was hurt. I wonder what the couples using the venue soon will be doing. I wonder why they did this.

About Me: I am true Southern gal displaced in the beautiful and blustery midwest. A true theatre geek at heart, I love any kind of performance and spend most of my time researching old productions in dank library archives. When not in the library, I love music (punk rock, bluegrass, and everything in between), design in all forms, any reality TV show on Bravo (especially those that feature housewives or sharp knives), beer and wine from Oregon, and exploring the outdoors. My fiance and I are true best friends, and he inspires me every day. After a long and happy dating relationship, we’ve decided to tie the knot in the mountains of North Carolina, our home state. We’re planning a long-distance, largely-DIY, eco-conscious hip farm affair that celebrates family, friends, and love.
