Hometown Love: The Final Fling

November 5th, 2009 @ 3:20 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

When we left off, Mr. Sunbeam and I were busy as could be to get everything in order before our friends and family arrived. Besides visiting our reception site, I visited our church to make sure our decorations would hang properly, we were stuffing OOT bags, fluffing poms, emailing vendors, and running to Pittsburgh to pick up cheese for our reception. I was starting to wonder if I should miss out on the bachelorette because there was so much to be done, but decided ’no way!’. We had to let go and start having some fun!

Our wedding party and a few of Mr. Sunbeam’s coworkers flew in two days before the wedding to join in on our bachelor & bachelorette parties… or should I say PARTY!? Everyone met up at a B&B where our groomsmen were staying and the next thing we knew, a party bus rolled up. Okay okay, I knew there might be a party bus, but Mr. Sunbeam was surprised to see it!

Just before getting on the bus, our best man #1 handed out t-shirts that he and his wife had designed based on our invitation motif and tweaked to be slightly inappropriate (at least my mom thought so!).

From the front… innocent kids in costumes. Err wait, it looks like the clown got her face paint all… over… that skeleton boy!

And from the back! Please ignore our butts in your face. The clown’s face was blended with the Gerber baby face. I will leave it at that. I looove that they made us t-shirts! Now I wear it to bed, to the gym, and just around the house. It reminds me of all the fun we had!

Remember my bachelorette party bags? I think the ladies enjoyed them! I know we were all munching on the contents at some point, thought if I could do it again I’d sew names on them because I’m pretty sure they got all mixed up by the end of the night. I know I crunched on a few candy necklaces that night!

Then we were off to Pittsburgh! I loved that we were all together on the party bus. I love all of our friends, and of course Mr. Sunbeam, so the more the merrier to me! We were sharing transportation and the bus was going to drop us off at different locations unknown to us, that is, after a quick stop at the Primanti Brother’s for a cheese steak.

The ladies took me bar hopping and dancing, while the men… well they went to a strip club. I knew about the club possibility ahead of time, and luckily some of the guys talked to me about how far to take it with Mr. Sunbeam. He had never been to one before and I knew, while he was probably curious about them, he wasn’t going to be comfortable with too much shenanigans. While I wasn’t worried about Mr. Sunbeam seeing dancing nudie girls, I was worried about germs and body fluids, of all things. He told me he was good and I believe him, because it sounds like he’ll never want to go back to one!

Needless to say there are not pictures from his adventures, but there are some from mine! A bit of dancing on a bar…

Maybe getting a cop or two were involved…

Eventually they picked me up, but they were so worried the picture would be all over “Yearbook”, um… Facebook? I decided to post this one instead. Then we headed back inside for more fun together!

One odd thing that happened was that we kept getting mistaken for G20 protestors! Yes, our party in Pittsburgh was during the G20! I mean I can kinda see it—a bunch of girls in matching t-shirts among a city full of protestors. I should have asked my ladies to get me a veil and some fuzzy pink things to wear so people knew I was a bride!! It all worked out though, and we had a great time.

I was really happy when the two parties met up again and to see Mr. Sunbeam wasn’t traumatized. Getting a party bus together was the best idea, even when the bus made sudden stops or turns!

BTW, my hair was look’n fabulous because I had a hair trial that morning! It wasn’t planned that way; I actually missed my appointment earlier in the week, but I was happy to have fabulous hair for the party!

After the party bus departed. The men headed up to my parents’ cabin, while we ladies went home to get our beauty rest! It was 3 AM—time for this Sun to set. There was only one more day to go! Eeek!

Up Nnext: Only one day to go!

Are you planning to party with the boys and do a joint bachelor/ette party? Or do you hope for some alone time debauchery?

Sounds awesome…and exactly like what we’re hoping to do.
I love that someone called it “Yearbook” that’s exactly what all the guys in my group of friends calls it. Too funny.

@emily1014: Honestly I have no idea were we went! The bus dropped us off and we spent about 10 minutes in each bar then went on to the next!

Looks so fun! The t-shirts are cute…pretty funny that you were mistaken for protestors..LOL

My guy and I are having separate weekends. He with his boys at an undisclosed location (probably vegas since we live in AZ) and as for me, I am having 2 weekends of fun (one in my hometown of Cleveland and the other in Phx).

Looks like so much fun! A joint party would’ve been cool, but ours were separate. I wanted the guys to come and join us at our hotel room later, but everyone went to sleep too early. :(

I like how your bachelor/bachelorette parties were joint some of the time and separate other parts of the time. Best of both worlds! And the party bus sounds awesome!

This looks like so much fun! That is a great idea to split up for part of the time, but to share the transportation! ;)
