First, thanks to all who expressed such concern, support, generosity, and kindness about the loss of Claxton Farm’s beautiful barn and about our wedding plans.
Luckily, the owners that manage the site have made plans to rebuild over the next six months. Mr. Snow and I have decided maintain our wedding plans for this location, old barn, new barn, or no barn. In one respect, the natural beauty surrounding the barn makes for a gorgeous wedding location, and the spirit with which the owners and event planners approached this crisis meant a lot to us. In another regard, this tragedy (more for the owners and who depend on this space for their livelihood) reminded both Mr. Snow and me how little a venue matters in the large scale of a marriage.
Sure, we were sad (as I’m sure you all picked up in that post titled “sadness”… LOL), but we also realized how we could wed, as Mr. Snow so hilariously stated, “in a ditch” and our marriage would still be grounded in our love for one another. We’ve been through much worse than this, and we know we’ll face other tough times over the course of our marriage to one another, but that’s what marriage is all about, right? The good times and the down right lame times.
It was frustrating to feel back to square one with planning (even though we’re most likely not!), but comforting to know that Mr. Snow and I really are one heck of a team, prepared to handle bumps in the wedding and marriage road together.
Now, let’s get back to the fun DIY projects.
So, did you have a wedding crisis? What’d you learn from it?
