About Mrs. Deviled Egg

Wow! It’s been a while since I posted! I’m still waiting to get my pro pictures on a CD so I can start my recaps, but I found some forgotten pictures on my iPhone for a couple of projects I worked on the week of the wedding. First up: Personalized Matchboxes!

This was just one little detail that was completely unnecessary, but done because I knew there would be quite a few cigar smokers in attendance at the wedding.

I purchased my plain, white matchboxes from efavormart.com.

To decorate them, I started by cutting paper rectangles to a size slightly smaller than the top surface. The dimension of the matchbox is 2” X 1 1/2 “, so I made mine just smaller in order to have a white border. I used the leftover green paper from when I made belly bands for our invites.

Once I cut out the rectangles, I stamped a small circle with black ink on to each. The stamps used in this project were from a $1 bin at Michaels.

Then, I used green ink and an “R” stamp to put our monogram in the center of the circle.

To make it your own, you can use any rubber stamp or even print out a design, cut it out and placed on the box.

To adhere them to the matchboxes, I turned them into stickers by running them through my Xyron machine, which was loaded with a removable adhesive* cartridge. Then, I just placed them on top of the boxes.

Ta-da!

There you have it—a quick DIY project that can be passed out as favors, included with sparklers used for your getaway or set out at your bar. I put ours in a small bowl by the beverage station and most of them were gone by the end of the night.

What little, unnecessary, but thoughtful details do plan on including (or did include) at your wedding?

*The cool part about using the removable adhesive was that I was able to remove the stickers from the leftovers and have plain white boxes of matches that I can either decorate again for another occasion or leave plain and set out around the house with my candles.

I did this project too. I even bought the 2.5″ xyron sticker maker just for this project. I printed our logo out onto colored paper, stickered it and then trimmed to the edge to fit. I love cute (althought pretty unnecessary) projects too!

Oh wow. My matron of honor (I’m her maid of honor) just ordered matchbooks, and I wish I’d seen this sooner! We could have made them!
