Mrs. Rainbow, Tampa Age and Occupation: 22, Makeup Artist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Electrical Engineer/Programmer Engagement Date: November 27, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Gamble Plantation About Me: I'm a quirky (and slightly Type-A) freelance makeup artist who was born in Washington State, raised in Alabama, and now living with my one and only in sunny Florida. I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. Someday the FI and I will change the world, but first we're tackling our modern-vintage-Marie-Antoinette-meets-Alice-in-Wonderland inspired wedding. I just can't wait to be Mrs. Rainbow!
About Mrs. Rainbow

Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock

November 10th, 2009 @ 5:40 pm by Mrs. Rainbow

Lately, I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out how to jazz up our table numbers. Granted, we’re having a very small wedding and will only need 6 tables to accommodate our guests, but still. I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve got Bride Brain, and with Bride Brain comes the irrational desire to incorporate every cute detail that I come across, no matter how small. So, naturally, while surfing Weddingbee—particularly Mrs. Perfume’s archives, as I’ve found that we have an almost identical sense of style, I came across these:

Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock : wedding decor diy reception Paris

Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock : wedding decor diy reception Munich

Designed by the fabulous Lindsey Ryan, these babies are totally swoon worthy. In keeping with our “Marie Antoinette-meets-Alice in Wonderland” inspiration, the locations would have been more French-centric (pretty sure that’s not a word…) but with the overall same vintage feel. I was thisclose to ripping off, er… borrowing… this idea from Perfume when I noticed these little details from the Jessica Claire Workshop:

When I saw the numbers on the scale it hit me—clocks, duh! How Alice is that? It’s perfect! I thought about buying mantle clocks, but when I saw that adorable blue pinwheel, I knew I had to incorporate it somehow. DIY clocks it is! Here’s my first shot at it; it’s totally ghetto fabulous:

Oooh, I just realized that this is your first glimpse at our centerpieces. More to come, I promise! Anyway, the clock is way too large, I only had tissue paper on hand for the pinwheel, and my printer wouldn’t work, so I had to DIY the clock face. Basically, I ghetto rigged the whole operation, but the concept is there, it just needs some fine-tuning. I’ll have a tutorial for you when I get all the kinks worked out!

Oh, and by the way, I hope everyone at our wedding can tell time because—true story—I had to Google “how to read a clock” because I forgot which hand (big or little) was the hour hand… Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock : wedding decor diy reception Blush blush… don’t tell.

What do you think? What are you doing for your table numbers?

Ooh, love the clock idea, maybe you can find some clock parts on the web and get some random little gears and such in there too.

Too cute! I’ve been thinking about my table numbers too. I was worried if they were too small they’d be hard to see. But seriously, we’ll be having 6 tables, tops, how hard could it be to find your table?!?!
The things we stress about….

We’re also having a very small wedding with about six tables. I love that you decided to do table numbers anyway! These look like they’re going to be beautiful. I have to say, I don’t think we’re going to label our tables in any particular way because I’m a little worried that people would get confused and think that there was assigned seating, which there won’t be. Are yours just going to be part of the decor, or will there be a seating system as well? I love the look, good luck with them.

What a great compliment!!!! I like your style, too!!! The clock idea is fabulous–especially if there are 12 tables or less!!! Great work; can’t wait to see how it all comes together!

You can go to AC Moore, Michael’s, Rag Shop ect and find adhesive clock faces and hands. I ended up making a Mad Hatter costume last Halloween and incorporated one as a large pocket-watch that sat on the brim of the top hat.

From my experiences, the stores themselves have a better selection than their respective websites.

As long as all the table numbers are “o’clocks” like.. 4, 5, 6.. they should be able to tell the numbers since the minute hand will always be on the 12 :)

I would have had to google it as well. I missed that lesson in elementary school.

@LittlestBirds: We’ll still have assigned seating, even though the wedding will be small!

That is such a great idea!

We’re actually using airport codes we frequently use to get to each other (LDR) as our table numbers
