Ms Potato Chips's Picture
Ms. Potato Chips, Boston/Narragansett RI Age and Occupation: 29, PhD Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Personal Trainer/Business Owner/Physical Therapy Assistant Engagement Date: January 1, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: The Narragansett Towers About Me: A semi-professional bookworm, if I could be a literary character I’d be a cross between Jo March and Jane Eyre, only better accessorized and much lazier. My hobbies include sleeping in, seasonal brews, running, Trader Joe’s, and watching Unwrapped and Good Eats with Mr. Potato Chips. I harbor an irrational fear of tulle, crafts, things that are fussy, and overuse of the phrase "Your Special Day". After a year or seven together, down the aisle we go, slouching toward adulthood and planning a Rhodie party with equal parts whimsy, cheer, and pizza.

And Then We Did Keg Stands

November 11th, 2009 @ 6:20 pm by Ms Potato Chips

Remember when spring break used to involve beads and Jell-O shots? And it wasn’t “spring break”—it was SPRINGBREAKWOOHOOOO!!? Remember that?

Last March Mr. Potato Head and I, by virtue of our teacher/student lifestyle, shared the same week of SPRINGBREAKWOOHOOOO!! Our big plans, however, included neither a beer funnel nor a suspicious man with a video camera and questionable release forms.

Instead, we made our first appointment to meet with wedding photographers. We planned on enjoying a relaxing brunch at our favorite diner and a leisurely drive up to New Hampshire to meet with the husband-wife duo at Hinkley Photo. Instead, we woke up to a flooded basement. Potato Head ran around with mops and buckets while I yelled a lot and tried to rescue as many shoes as possible.

Let’s recap:

Spring Break 99 = sunshine, ocean, party bus to Miami

Spring Break 2009 = drizzly 40-degree weather, waking up to a flooded basement, road trip to New Hampshire. My thirties. They are a-comin’.

Luckily, the day was saved by a successful meeting, when we finally got there several hours later.

Matt even called us on the way to see if he could put on a pot of coffee for us! I knew we’d click immediately. We were immediately smitten after meeting them and seeing their work.

We had such fun at our engagement session and can’t wait to work with them! Enough with the jibber-jabber. Here are some of my favorite shots.

How did you find your photographer? Was it a difficult decision?

Love those pics! You guys made a great choice - can’t wait to see your e-pics!

By the way, SPRINGBREAKWOOHOOOO!! totally reminds me of that Friend’s episode where Ross’ college-aged girlfriend told him she was going on “Spring Vacation” and Joey and Chandler are like “You mean….SPRINGBREAKWOOHOOOO!!??” Hahahaha.

Oh, lovely! They’re going to be great photogs for you guys! I think they’ll really capture your bubbly personalities (like they did in the engagement shoot!).

I am having the hardest time choosing a photographer - on our budget - with experience doing beach ceremonies! It is by far the most difficult decision. I love your photographers’ shots, wish they were closer to me! sigh.

@Miss Hamster: That must be why the phrase was stuck in my head. I watch way too many Friends reruns.

We found our photographer because they did a wedding for friends of ours. I love photographers that are married couples, they seem to have the best eye for great photos!

I love these shots, your photographers look awesome! Ours is kind of a friendor, since she is one of our family friend’s daughter’s best friend since college and actually came to a bunch of holiday celebrations at our house back in the day…

Wow! Score on the photographer! I fell in love with our photographer after seeing a wedding she shot on once wed and emailing her. The email exchange that followed was so awesome that we knew we’d love her before we even met in person. We finally met sunday and squee! Her work was awesome and she was super too! We’re soooo excited about our photography now!

Those are beautiful! Finding a photographer is going to be rough- I took photo classes in college and so many of them are in the wedding photo business. I’m going to have to hurt some feelings and it bums me out!

Your photographers look great and fun! We had a relatively easy time finding our photographer. She came on the recommendation of my husband’s boss and when we met with her, we knew she was The One.

Ah! We considered these photographers. I don’t remember what happened. Our tiny budget, perhaps? Ms. P Chips in New Hampshire! I love it. Is your diner near my current HT, the (not so) lovely Manchvegas?

I got all excited at your title, but that is a not so-fun Spring Break activity. Darn basements!

My last spring break was spent in Cancun, which would have been great had it not been because my then fiance and I were chaperoning a high school Senior Trip. I mean, they’re 18 - haven’t they heard NOT TO DRINK THE WATER! I think I spent 3 out of 5 days in the bathroom watching high school girls brush their teeth, wash their face, and shower.
