About Mrs. Sunbeam

Hometown Love: Dessert and an Impromptu Photo Shoot : wedding pictures pro pics recap Blogim02

We had just finished up our rehearsal and moseyed on down to my parents’ house for dessert. But before we went inside, one of our fabulous friends pulled us aside to take some photos of us with the sunset. When he couldn’t find a good spot for us with the sunset, it turned into a little pre-wedding mini-shoot!

This was great because we were extremely awkward, which is why I’m only showing you three of these, but I think it helped us get ready to be in front of the camera on our wedding day. Afterwards, it was about time we visited with our guests. My mom had a slew of desserts out—cheesecakes, tiramisu, creme de mente bars, a pumpkin roll, and a warm fruit cobbler with ice cream. Mmm. Sadly I didn’t get a picture of the spread, but I know she broke out some of her beautiful StangleWare for the occasion.

I had also put together a little something for our friends and family to enjoy that doubled as a keepsake. Via My Publisher, I made a photo book of the two of us from age zero until a few months prior to our wedding. I loved poring through our old photographs and gathering up our school pictures, and it seemed like a hit with our guests!

It was around 8 or 9 PM. We were all full of sugar, and thank goodness for it because rest was far off. After dessert a group of fantastic friends volunteered to come to the barn with us to sort out some last minute decorating and moving furniture around. Oh, and yes, the flowers.

While dessert was fun and I’m sure it was appreciated by our guests, it would have been nice to head straight to the barn after our rehearsal to finish things up instead of working into the night. Cest la vie!

Are you planning a dessert or dinner to include all of your out of town guests the night before your wedding?

We included everyone in our rehersal dinner. That’s nice you got to practice taking pictures.

Very cute book! :) We’re doing a traditional rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, but hopefully we can spice it up in some way.

Cute touch with the photo album. I wish my FI had as many baby pictures as my family tends to take.

Love your little photo shoot. I’m expecting to be a little torn between wanting to get the reception area ready and going out with friends.

I’m hoping to have everything set up before the rehearsal dinner so that I can relax and enjoy the time with everyone but who knows what will happen….Sounds like a lot of stress before your wedding, unfortunately!

I love those first 3 shots of you guys! I wish we’d taken more photos the day of the rehearsal.

We just decided on dessert for all guests last week when our original plans of meeting up at a rented out bar after the rehearsal dinner fell through. I hadn’t heard of anyone doing things this way, so its nice to see a Bee doing it.

Aw those books are great! I’d love to make one of us, but I only break out the camera sporadically since it’s so heavy!
