About Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Vintage Goodness

November 11th, 2009 @ 1:48 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

For some reason I’ve felt like our wedding was losing some of its vintage appeal. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited about the direction it’s heading in, but I want to be sure that I stick to my original plan of vintage yet modern. Well, thankfully I stumbled on Three Potato Four.

You see, I’m not much of a bargain shopper, nor am I able to find hidden gems at Goodwill or the Flea Market. It feels like a curse. I see all the amazing things people have acquired at said shops, but I just don’t have that skill. I need to be able to look through things in an organized manner, and finding vintage items online is the perfect way to do that.

Here are some things I’m loving from Three Potato Four:

Vintage Goodness : wedding decor reception 1 glass_chickadee

I’ve never seen anything so cute. I would continue to use this even after the wedding.

Vintage Goodness : wedding decor reception 2 small_antique_glass_bottles_1

There are a million ways I could use these gorgeous glass bottles.

Vintage Goodness : wedding decor reception 3 collection_of_keys_1

Ah, vintage keys. Love them.

Vintage Goodness : wedding decor reception 4 refurbished_royal_typewriter_turq_1

And the typewriter? That’s my favorite. I wish I could incorporate that.

Where do you find your vintage goodies?

I’m a thrift store junkie. :) Garage sales, Goodwill, you name it - I’m there. The treasures I’ve found MORE than make up for the effort.

Love the typewriter! I know I saw a wedding somewhere (here?) where the couple used a vintage typewriter and a long scroll of paper for guests to type out their messages, in place of a guestbook. Super cool.

I’ve seen people incorporate a vintage typewriting (if it works). They have their guest type their names and use it as their guestbook. ThreePotatoFour, Cute website!

Maybe this is far-fatched, but use the type writer to hold strip of paper and on each use a type-style font to say “write a note for the lovebirds” or something like that…could be cute. Maybe use it to display something like seating arrangements or whatever? Just a few ideas….

Great, now along with etsy I have a new obsession thanks to WB. :)

I have also heard about the typewriter guest books and I think they’re amazing. I have also hear of using the keys on the typewriter either as accents for bouquets or on place cards.

I love that vase!!! And after the wedding, how cute would a shadowbox full of framed keys look by your front door?

Awesome resource… I too have trouble finding hidden treasures at thrift stores etc. but seeing other people’s success has inspired me to keep looking!

I think those keys are beautiful, but how would you plan to use them at your wedding? I’d love to hear all about it!!

@bunnylovesbear: Yeah, they don’t really fit with the theme of our wedding, but I thought they would be great to hold the names and table numbers of each guest.

I am with you completely on feeling kind of frustrated and overwhelmed with thrift shopping. I go out every time fantasizing that I’ll hit upon the most amazing find, but the shopping itself is always confusing when I’m so used to being able to see things in an organized manner. I think people who are good at thrifting have to go out and do it a LOT.

I’m with Miss Moonbeam - my grandma had twenty blue ball mason jars in her basement for me! :)

That bird vase is fan-damn-tastic!!! I am SO in love with it! I find really weird/ tacky-but-awesome things at Marshall’s alot, I almost consider that thrifting.
