So, you know when you’re out with your friends celebrating a birthday party, or a bachelorette party, or, um, the fact that it’s Tuesday and you’ve made it through the day? And inevitably, someone gets everyone together and takes a group shot of everyone enjoying themselves? And then, they flip the camera around to see how the picture turns out, and everyone agrees that it’s “awesome”! And thennnn, that person promises to email you a copy or post it on Facebook — but they kind of never do? And you maybe sort of want to nag them about posting it but you don’t want to seem pushy… so you wait a few weeks and they still don’t post it, and by then you figure that they probably have better things going on than posting a picture, so you kind of forget it (although secretly, in the back of your mind, you know that if it was you that was in charge of posting it, you would have done it by now)?
Yeah, I’ve been there, too. (Um, obviously.) I realize that sometimes it just takes effort to find the cord to connect your camera to your computer, upload and sort the pictures, take out the ones where someone’s eyes are closed/someone’s not looking/someone’s talking, and then send them around for everyone else to see. I get it. I understand that you’d rather be watching Gossip Girl than dealing with that mess.
Which is why for our wedding, we’ve gotten a Canditto. A Can-dit-whaaaaat?
A Canditto. Basically, it’s funky looking little machine that we’ll have set up at our reception that will collect everyone’s awesome photos from our wedding day. No muss, no fuss — and most importantly, no waiting on people to upload their pictures!

It’s simple. So simple, in fact, that I’ve been assured that people who may be, um… a few sheets to the wind… will be able to operate it. First, people will simply take amazing, awesome Ansel Adams-type shots of our wedding. Second, they will take the memory card out of their cameras, and insert it into the Canditto machine. The Canditto only copies the pictures that people have taken over the last 8 hours – so it will get both ceremony and reception shots (no need to worry about other pics sneaking their way in). Canditto saves them to two internal USB drives that Mr. French Fries and I get to keep. Our guests will then remove their photo card (with their pictures still intact) and go on their merry way.
At the end of the night, Mr. French Fries and I will collect the USB drives and they will be full of awesome guest pictures that we might not get to see otherwise (ahem… if we were relying on people to upload and send them to us). We’ll have operating instructions set up next to the machine at the reception, and we’ll probably have our DJ make a reminder announcement so people don’t forget to upload.
I’m excited that we won’t have to do disposable cameras at everyone’s table, or wait for people to upload them online so that we can see them. We’ll be able to look at pictures the very next day, on our own laptop, without any hassle. Yes, I love technology. (… but not as much as you, you see — name that movie!)
How are you using technology to make your wedding day easier?
(Also, just for the record… I am not getting paid to endorse Canditto in any way — I just think it’s a great idea!)
