I was feeling so proud of myself for finally posting my flowers. I have been on the project for months now, but somehow posting about it feels like copyrighting the idea or something.

That was until I opened this issue of Martha Stewart Weddings.

FMIL Pudding bought me a subscription when Mr. P and I first got engaged, and I love getting inspiration from the magazine.

In this issue, however, Martha not only steals my idea (which was inspired by her in the first place, but whatever!), she does it soooo much better than me!

How can I compete with this?

Now, Martha does offer a tutorial. Don’t you sometimes think that she gives us the step by step just to mock us? I wouldn’t be surprised if she did a DIY guide to brain surgery one of these days! I might have Mama Pudding take a look at the pattern and see if she can whip them up. Then I could have two types of flowers alternating on the tables. Sigh. I should probably just stick to my easier, more plain version, but I am an envious person by nature, and these are just so beautiful!

Awww I’m sorry I even mentioned it last time. Your flowers look great and what makes them awesome is that you’re really using them, not making 20 and picking the best one to put in a magazine spread!

I NEVER strive to compete with Martha. I like to continue to think highly of myself, and that would just be failtown.

I was thinking of this article after your last post, but you know what, these aren’t that hard to make! I love your original flowers, but if you want to do these too it would be a great way to get a little more variety! oh martha

Your original fabric flowers are adorable! I think you could stick a few of these in if you wanted, and it would look awesome, but you don’t need to.

You know, I have worshipped at the altar of Martha for over a decade now.

I’ve also been able to reproduce quite a few of her “good things” with good results so I am a Marthamaniac!

I dare not compete with the “M”. But I have my own ideas too now and then. Her destination wedding mag is now my go to for eye candy and crazy wild idea designs.
