Hometown Love: The Day is Here! Let's Get BEAUTIFUL! : wedding pictures pro pics recap Hair101

**

I woke up at 6 AM on our wedding day. I couldn’t sleep any longer. It was time to bask in the fact that today was our wedding day! I loved our engagement so much and all of the planning that went into our day. When we set our wedding date I thought our engagement was SO long (15 months) but half-way through, I loved it so much I could have been engaged for a year longer. But now the time to be a bride had come. I fluffed out a few last minute poms, had some breakfast, printed out some extra timelines (which I think no one held onto, myself included) and waited anxiously for the first thing on the list: Our hair appointments.

Two days prior to our big day I had my final and most important hair trial! I made the call to switch to a new hairdresser a month out because the other couldn’t accommodate my bridesmaids. I was so nervous - because this was the trial of all trials! My hair turned out soooo good. I was thrilled, so when I arrived at the salon at 10AM on our wedding day I was more than confident in the outcome.

Our photographer team had arrived at my house a few minutes before my appointment and took a moment to scout out the church before joining me and my ’maids at the salon.

Though we had a two hour window for hair, I pegged us at only needing one. HA! I think my hair took an hour and half, and my MOH’s hair wasn’t started until well into the second hour. There are a million pictures of me getting my hair done, but they all make me wish I had done my makeup first and had some frozen tea bagsfor those under eye puffs that I never dreamed would make an appearance!

I emailed the ladies suggestions for their hairstyles, but let them have nearly 100% freedom in their selections (I only asked for no ’80s tight curls). Everyone ended up looking beauuutiful and happy with their chosen styles! I was especially pleased with my hair! The real deal was a tighter style than my trials, but reasonably so given it had to last all day long.

*YAY* I kinda wish I could get a version of this done every day. The ladies and I got ready at my parents’ house, in my old bedroom, and man did my room become a disaster zone! It never occurred to me to keep the room clean for pics. Lesson learned - keep your dressing room clean. 12:00: time to put our faces on!

A little lipstick… and done! I loved how my makeup turned out - especially because it was hiding a disaster zone. I had seen a dermatologist a two months before the wedding to make sure my skin would be perrrfect for our big day. The creams he gave me were working pretty well in San Fran, but when I entered into the dry air of PA the area around my mouth became really dried out and one spot looked like a bad chemical peel! Thank goodness for the glory of makeup. :)

This part of the day also took much longer than I thought, as well…something I always try to warn future brides to budget more time for. It was worth it, though, because you all look beautiful!

I’m making a mental note to allow more time than I think is necessary for hair/makeup. Thanks, Sunbeam! Your hair turned out wonderfully.

It’s funny that you have way more pics then you would ever need of you getting your hair done and I don’t have any hahaha
I love your hair by the way, I can see why you would want to have it done similar everyday :)

Thanks everyone! You make me feel so pretty :)

@Mrs. Bear Cub: I had done a trial with someone else where they made lose knots and twisted hairs in and out of various loops, so she was going off a very organic look. I think hear she made a lot more “knots” than she had in our trial. I can try to include closer photos of the style later if I can find any!
