Tree Card Holder

November 17th, 2009 @ 2:01 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So remember when I needed inspiration for what to make our card holder out of? And then you all inspired me and led me to the one? Well, I took everyone’s advice and did an alchemy request on Etsy. Four people answered my bid and I chose one, Petal Products. So Petal Products doesn’t normally make tree card holders, nor does she make anything tree or wood related, BUT she was sweet, confident, and lived in a heavily wooded area, so I took a chance. Best decision ever.

This was my first alchemy request, so I was nervous and not at all acclimated to the process, but it couldn’t have been easier. So, are you ready to see it?

Here it is, in all its tree stump glory:

Tree Card Holder : wedding decor reception 2 2

Tree Card Holder : wedding decor reception 1 1

Tree Card Holder : wedding decor reception 3 3

I LOVE it! It’s everything that I wanted. And, I seriously want to give a shout out to Cynthia of Petal Products. She was amazing to work with—very responsive, and even sent me picture and email updates throughout the process. I know she worked so hard on this, and it definitely shows. She even did a little congratulatory note on the inside of the tree for us:

Tree Card Holder : wedding decor reception 4 4

So, have you done any alchemy requests? What was your experience like?

Hot diggity dog! Thanks, everyone. I think one day I’ll write a novel about this creation as it was probably my most ambitious artistic persuit to date (except maybe spending all night in my classroom covering it -walls and ceiling- with fabric to create a forest-y look. Violating all fire codes known to man… that was pretty ambitious. Well, it won me “Employee of the Month”…hahaaha.)

Anyhoo, I’m up to doing another one, should to opportunity present itself, so don’t hesitate to check out the actual post in my etsy shop. I sorta feel like I need to do a step by step thingee on what all I did. Also, there’s some REALLY cool fire shots I got while burning it out.

Yay. Sure to be nominated for longest “comments” writer ever! How exciting. Take care everyone, and thanks to Kelsey. That Sean better realize he’s one lucky man!
Peace out,
cynthia.
