About Mrs. Ramen

Ramen Gone Wild!!!!

November 18th, 2009 @ 5:02 pm by Mrs. Ramen

Because that’s how I roll. You know - wet T-shirts, body shots, throwing dolla-billz at half-nekkid men, not to mention all of the swinging around poles and dancing on bars while sipping on some boozy cocktails.

Uhm, except that I AM A TOTAL GRANDMA. My “wild and crazy” bachelorette actually consisted of dinner and some dessert with 3 of my cousins and a friend in SF. And then to end my night of wild insanity, we watched one of my fave girlie flicks - 13 going on 30. I know, calm down Ramen! You so crazy!

I had planned on hitting up SF prior to getting married, to spend some time with my grandma and cousins, run a few errands (hello, Daiso!) and eat my body weight in good food (and I did). So, once finals were over (I passed all of them, which is reason enough to celebrate!), I threw my stuff in the car, and headed up north! 8 hours, 1 order of chicken nuggets and an iced vanilla coffee later… I was finally in SF!

Saturday was spent with Cousin Fishcake, running errands, aka spending almost 3 hours at Daiso. If you have not experienced the joy and satisfaction and cuteness that is this $1.50 Japanese store, get thee to one ASAP. I could spend days there. Literally. Looooove it! They have the most random things - and lots of cute stuff that you could totally use as favors, decorations, or gifts. Sister Ramen and Cousin Fishcake actually bought most of my shower stuff from here - the heart shaped rice paddles, wooden forks, pink straws, and the jars for the jam favors!

Trying on some lovely sun bonnets at Daiso!

We also stopped by the Ribbonerie in Laurel Heights, where I picked up a TON of ribbon from their sale bin for amazing prices. Woohoooo! Again - if you are in the SF Bay Area, you HAVE to stop by this cute little shop! It’s adorable and the ribbon selection there is AMAZING and quite drool worthy. That project to come later…

My sweet cousins took me out to a little French restaurant called ChouChou, where we dined on some delightfully sweet French Onion Soup, and I ordered the mussels. SO GOOD! Two of the girls ordered the Chanterelle Souffle - OMG it looked SO GOOD! And the chef sent out 2 free slices of tarts because he heard it was my bachelorette party!

Afterwards, we headed to CandyBar, a new SF dessert lounge/bar for some drinks and dessert. I had read some crazy reviews on Yelp, so I wanted to try out their dessert nachos. Alas, they were not serving the nachos that night. Instead we had a dark chocolate bittersweet ganache with thyme ice cream, sweet potato pie with lavender ice cream, and banana dumplings in some kind of creamy sauce. The bananas were pretty good, but the desserts weren’t my personal favorites. The drinks were super good! I had the red sangria and I loooooved it.

With the Ramen cousins

The night ended in a fantastic way - not only did we get to watch one of my fave movies, but one of my cousins gave me a belated shower gift and early wedding gift! She insisted that I open them, and of course I obliged! Since she’s married, she wanted to give us some useful stuff - so she and her family got us our Calphalon frying pan/omelette pan set AND our Wusthof Classic Ikon knives! EEE! I almost cried. These are the 2 things, aside from the rice cooker and wok, that I know I’m going to be reaching for over and over and over!!! Seriously, they were such awesome gifts!

Not only do I look ridiculously happy, you can see my food baby (it was all worth it!)! I think I was telling them I was going to sleep with the knives by my bedside, I loved them so much. Can you tell I love everything related to food?

My cousin, the wonderful gift bearer!

Did you have a wild bachelorette or a tame one?

Mine was a very tame winery tour in Virginia, but it was loads of fun.

Lol…I’m such a granny too. I don’t want a bachlorette party…well not the traditional ones. I prefer a nice dinner with a handful of friends!

Yours looked totally fun!

Oooh, never heard of Daiso! Now I really want to check it out! Gah - their website has to NYC pictures but no NYC locations - what a tease! I’ll just have to put it on my list for Cali. :)

i was a total granny. we started with wine and cheese by the pool at my apartment, then we moved to one of those paint your own pottery places - i LOVE things like that. then we went out for a nice italian dinner. it was exactly what i wanted! and because of school schedules, i couldn’t have my bachelorette until a few days after the wedding - so it was the perfect relaxing night in the midst of my stressing.

I LOVE Daiso! They are all over Seoul - there’s even one in the middle of Lotte Mart which is kind of like Walmart. I’m there every week! I had no idea they were in the states too!!^^

You had a great time, right - mission accomplished! We had the intention of getting wild and crazy, and after pre-gaming, doing hair, etc, only left the hotel at midnight. Only to learn the bars in this particular town closed at 1. bummer.
