So after the ceremony, we headed downstairs in the Chapel for a quick moment together. I felt a huge relief knowing that all we had left to do was.. well, celebrate! I’m all about the party. We both giggled at our rings, and gave a quick smooch before our wedding party joined us.

Apparently they were waiting in the stairwell for us to stop smooching, but I was oblivious. I guess that’s what happens when you’re on cloud nine.
We grabbed a few hugs from our family and friends. Champ’s best man went to college with the two of us, so he’s seen our relationship from the start. It was so special to have him there.
And of course, everyone wanted to see the rings! My brother got married about four years ago, and has lost at least five wedding rings to date. His wife even went to Costco and got a value pack but he lost all of those, too. So my brother told me a million times that I better keep track of my rings—thanks for the advice big bro.
If there’s one photo op that I highly highly recommend for couples with a relatively small guest list, it’s a photo with all of the guests. We were able to use this on our thank you notes, and I really loved looking back at all of our guests in one photo. Thank God for heated driveways—this could have been interesting with many of our guests in heels!
After the group photo, it was inside to sign the marriage license.
We laughed about how we went to the county jail to apply for this thing. Who knew the jail didn’t issue marriage licenses? It made perfect sense to me at the time.
I find formal portraits sort of boring, so I’ll share with you just the basic family photos.
Champ’s side of the family:
And mine:
Our parents:
My wise older brother:
Champ and his mom. They have the sweetest relationship—he truly is her little boy, and I’ve got to thank her for so many of the reasons Champ treats me the way he does.
And who would we be without a few laughs. I believe we were talking about how sore our faces were from smiling and I was doing a little stretch. Very classy bridal behavior if you ask me.
OK so I hate the lighting in most of these pics, but there’s a reason I’m showing you this:
…because look at Champ’s expression!! I’m giving a thumbs up, and he’s terrified of the ring on his finger! I didn’t see this photo until our pictures came back, but you can be assured there was some questioning involved after I saw it. The ol’ ball and chain syndrome, I guess.
The dudes posed for a picture from above…
… and there may have been a mention of “Blue Steel”.
I show you this next photo only for educational purposes. Champ asked our photographer for a photo with each of his groomsmen, and our photographer picked the STAIRWELL for photos. I thought the parking lot was bad, but this is the only photo that doesn’t have the outlet on the wall. What a breathtaking photo.

Remember my Grandmother Hazel’s fur stole? My mom actually wore her mother’s fur as well.
It really kept me warm and was a constant reminder of my family and those I wish were there to celebrate with me.
We grabbed a kiss in front of the Chapel, and we headed into Vail Village for a few photos. I had wonderful plans for photo opportunities that never happened (the harsh reality of being the happy bride), but I really think we got a few photos that really captured the winter scene.
