Blinging Out the Girls

November 20th, 2009 @ 12:30 pm by Mrs. Pudding

Doesn’t the name of this post make it sound like I am going to talk about diamond encrusted underwear or something? Sorry to disappoint!

I’ve been watching the Rachel Zoe Project (I have a lot of time for Bravo lately), and loved the way she styled her celebrity clients for the Golden Globes. I was particularly happy to see that both Debra Messing and Anne Hathaway wore navy blue, further convincing me that the colour choices that I made for our wedding are indeed chic!

I loved Anne’s overall look, and plan on using it as inspiration for my bridesmaids!

I am fairly certain that I want the girls to wear long dresses, and I know that I want them soft and flowy. This way, they will mirror my wedding gown (more on that later). I made these decisions long ago, and Anne is simply modeling my vision.

However, it was Debra Messing’s outfit that had my creative juices flowing. Actually, her dress was kind of a mess, but her accessories were amazing!

Don’t you think that those emerald earrings against the navy of the dress are just to die for? They are so unexpected and striking! I think that they would look amazing on my girls.

What do you guys think? A dress like this one from Nordstrom:

Paired with earrings like this from overstock.com

Hmmm… maybe that doesn’t tie into our navy, ivory, and yellow theme. Hmmm… maybe I don’t care.

What do you think? Would these accessories “go”?

LOVE the dress and the earring! The idea of yellow topaz could also work, but everything also doesn’t have to be all matchy matchy!

@Lillindy: You totally get me! I was thinking that it might be nice to have a totally out there detail.

Hmm… maybe yellow topaz or citrine? The emerald kinda throws me off cause they’re not in your color scheme

I love the navy and emerald together. I love that Deb Messing look–if I’m not mistaken that’s the style work of Rachel Zoe! Fantastic!

I have those earrings from overstock for bridal wear and just to let you know… they are VERY tiny. I like them like that but they are soooo small.

@Krista: That’s good to know! I was under the impression that they were quite large and dangly!

Yup yup…yellow sounds better! But if you love the green…it works too!

Love the color combination and the unexpected green! But I wouldn’t pair big dangly earings with halter top dress, I think they look just a bit better with a strapless. It’ll be gorgeous either way though!

I love your original idea to go with the green earrings & the gorgeous navy gown! It’s a very rich look!

I actually prefer weddings that aren’t perfectly matched. It can look a little boring! Go with your first instinct :)

I like the idea of a color that’s unexpected. The whole matchy-matchy thing? So over it.

Emeralds all the way! Love them. They’re my favorite. And of course they’re not all the same hue, so you could find something that’s more subtle (a dark dark emerald) or something with a bit more pop (a grassier, bluer emerald).

I think the emerald earrings would be beautiful - little splashes of green here and there would be great. You’re already going to have a little bit of green with your flowers, and green is between yellow and blue anyway, so it makes sense. I think it would be a nice break from the blue and yellow.

I’m not a matchy-matchy fan either! The whole “bridal party army” makes me hella nervous. :p

That dress is so pretty and looks very comfortable for your girls too. I like the pop of green in the jewelry too, I don’t think it matters at all that it doesn’t fit into your color scheme!
