About Mrs. French Fries

You Had Me at “Halo”!

November 20th, 2009 @ 11:20 am by Mrs. French Fries

Since I’ve posted the story of how we got engaged but haven’t really posted any ring pics, I figured it was time to show off “my precious” just a little bit. A teensy bit of back story, though, before we get to the gratuitous ring shots. Before Mr. French Fries and I got engaged, we had a little chat about e-rings. He basically told me that if he was going to be investing a substantial amount of moolah on a ring, he wanted to be absolutely positively 110% sure that I loved it. At least I’m pretty sure that’s what he said, because the words “ring” and “shopping” were scattering across the synapses of my brain too quickly and they blotted everything else out.

So, yes… I knew what my e-ring would look like before we got engaged, but I know it was the right choice for me to be involved in the process. Plus, the memory of picking out something this special together is one of our relationship/pre-engagement/engagement highlights. (I will say, after I decided on my ring it was absolute torture waiting to wear it, but it was so totally worth it!).

Enough with the text and the sentences and the words! (Also, as if there was any question, I got my e-ring photog skillz — and I use the term “skillz” loosely — from the amazing Anne Ruthmann tutorial.)

You Had Me at Halo! : wedding rings 1 ering1

I used a ceramic kitten mug that I got from a Japanese restaurant as a prop for this one! I think this is my favorite.

You Had Me at Halo! : wedding rings 2 ering2

I know that this one is a little dark, but look! Just a tiny bit of green sun-flare!
Oh, and that tulle? It’s one of my aforementioned tulle pomanders. Still working on them!

You Had Me at Halo! : wedding rings 3 ering

That fabric just so happens to be fabric for our wedding napkins — just for the two of us. :)

So! There you have it. Like Anne says in the tutorial, I do highly suggest playing around with your camera and doing things you don’t think will work. You’re not wasting film, so try anything and everything! I thought the ceramic kitten mug pic would look weird, but in the end, it turned out great.

Have you taken the time to do an e-ring photo shoot?

Yay halo! :) The shots came out great! I have done a photo shoot with mine, but my camera just isn’t good enough. I’m going to let my photog handle that part. ;)

Wow, French Fries! Look at your hair! You look fabulous, but totally different. The ring is beautiful, too!

I agree, the Japanese kitten mug shot came out great! I was thinking about doing an e-ring shoot this weekend since it’s supposed to be sunny. Already brainstorming for what creative props I can use. Maybe my pugs, while they are sleeping? :)

Nice shots. I do constantly take photos of my ring. In fact, I just did some yesterday…hehe. I don’t think the ring will ever get old!

I love it! I have a halo ring, but because FI and I didn’t discuss it before he proposed, I was expecting to get a tiny solitaire (and was totally happy with that). When he got down on one knee and opened the ring box, I was speechless!

And your photo skillz are waaaay better than mine!

I can’t wait to take pictures of my ring (once I GET IT) I have 3 DSLRs (digital and 2 film) and can’t wait to see how the film pictures turn out. Film is my one true love!
