Asking the ‘Maids

November 21st, 2009 @ 1:05 pm by Mrs. Cheeseburger

I am so, so thrilled that I will have all my best girls accompanying me to the altar on the big day. There really never was a question in my mind about who to ask, but I had to think hard about when and how I wanted to ask them.

Cheeseburger SisterMOH was easy. She was actually in Europe on the day we got engaged, so as soon as I could get a hold of her and tell her the good news, I asked her on the spot. Not that it was really a surprise to her, she’s always known that she would be my lady of honor. :) After a few months of engaged bliss had gone by, I wanted to make sure that she knew how special she was to me, and that I was so honored that she would be by my side on the big day. I picked a special arrangement of lavender roses and had them sent to her dorm room as a surprise. She loved them, and I was glad that she got to feel special on that day (as she should every day!).

I also wanted to ask SisterBurger in a special way, because it means so much to me to have her in the bridal party as well. I knew she liked colorful flowers like gerbera daises, and I found a beautiful arrangement of tulips that I sent with a little note. She was really excited (and said yes!) and so was I - she is the best, and I’m so excited to gain another sister. :)

For Cousin Cheeseburger, I was lucky enough to make it home for a family wedding and got to ask her in person - which meant a lot to me. She is much younger than me, and she (along with her brother and sister) has always been like a sibling to me.

The rest of the Cheeseburger Girls (my 6 best lovies from high school) are spread all across the country, and I really wanted nothing more than to ask them all together. Unfortunately, after the holidays came and went and I realized that we wouldn’t all be together for quite some time, I knew I had to ask them another way.

I put together a letter to them as a group and sent them all a copy, as well as individual notes. I also printed out pictures of some example dresses for them to browse, as well as paper & ribbon samples for them to get a feel for the color scheme. Lastly, I bought some roses and little water capsule things (see below, I don’t know how else to describe them :), and sent the packages on their merry ways! I tried to plan it so that they would all arrive to each girls at the same time, and it kind of worked - they all got them within a few days of one another. They all loved them, and they all said yes (*huge smiles*)!

Here are some pictures of the whole shebang below:

I can’t imagine anything better than being surrounded by my favorite ladies all day long on the most important day of my life. :) Thank you girls, for making my day - love you!

How did you ask your bridesmaids to be in your posse?

That’s so amazing! I would love to get that! :) You’re a great bride to work for! haha! I called them all or asked them in person to see if they would, and then I made them all a card (http://countingto814.blogspot.com/2009/10/293-i-do-some-proposing-wedding.html) with information in it-I changed some of the information so I just made them another little note card with a color sample of their dress.

Omigoodness! Lookit how together you are. Those are beautiful! I… still don’t know who I’m going to ask. I’ve grown apart from alot of my friends so it’ll be hard.

So sweet! I asked my sister to be my MOH a couple days after I got engaged with a card and I wrapped up a Bridesmaid book guide for her. I haven’t asked my BMs yet because I don’t live near any of them and I want to do it in person (they all know already, but I want to make it official)… I found these silver fortune cookie boxes http://www.beau-coup.com/fortunecookieasian.htm and wrote a special “fortune” asking them to be my bridesmaid one one side and the wedding date on the other side, and put it in the fortune cookie. I also included a card and wrote a nice little note in each one about how much they mean to me. Can’t wait to give them to the girls!

I sent these personalized, handmade cards to my bridesmaids in my wedding colors (green and blue) http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=30141340

For only 5 bm’s it was really affordable and they loved them! I wrote a note on the back telling them how much their friendship meant to me.

Aww, I love how you first asked some of them in a different, special way for each, and then sent cute little packets!
